We’re making headway… pissing off liberals!

June 30, 2008

This is the first step in any campaign. You have to upset your opponents before you know you’re getting to them. It’s WORKING!

We have someone pestering me (and my ex-boss where I used to work) about our hysterically funny politically incorrect bumper sticker. Apparently they have no sense of humor. I am getting e-mail (and so is my ex-boss) from a person who is annoyed by free speech. This person is an opponent of the hero, Mitch McConnell, KY.

As is typical with liberals, I offered this person the chance to have a meaningful conversation about how to solve the nation’s energy problems, but didn’t want to have ANY conversation with us. I hate to say it, but Republicans OWN this issue and will prevail this fall when energy prices begin to skyrocket if Democrats don’t come up with something new. Dick Morris, political strategist for the Clintons, says so! Keep the heat on our representatives. High gas prices are tops in the news and will be the issue of the next election… not Iraq! Be prepared to sign petitions and send faxes to your representatives.

Internet E-mail about ANWR

June 29, 2008

ANWR is the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve. Democrats oppose drilling there because it is a pristine wilderness that we need to protect. Oh, really? What this e-mail points out is the truth about where the drilling will actually be and the truth about the area including maps and pictures.

We tried to verify this on SNOPES but were not able to find any mention of it, so we present it here without vouching for its accuracy.

FIRST – do you know what ANWR is?
ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Now a comparison

Alaska to US comparison

 Now some perspective:

Alaska and proposed ANWR drilling site

NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS. It’s in the ANWR Coastal Plain.

THESE ARE PICTURES OF WHAT THE DEMOCRATS, LIBERALS AND GREENS SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR and they are right, these ARE photographs of ANWR.

 ANWR

ANWR

WELL THAT’S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH. Do you remember the map? The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain. Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you? WHAT’S GOING ON HERE? THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE, THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL! BELOW IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER.

ANWR

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER.

OH! AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE. HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE DEPLETED WILDLIFE SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY. DON’T YOU THINK THAT THE CARIBOU REALLY HATE THAT DRILLING?

There’s plenty more to this e-mail, but we think you get the idea.

Representative Ted Poe of Texas talks about Energy Policy and Oil

June 29, 2008

Join Team Mitch – one of the few doing something about high gas prices!

June 29, 2008

While liberals are sitting back waiting for conservation to help lower gas prices, Team Mitch McConnell has been doing something about it. Conservation is fine, but has not lowered gas prices to date. As a matter of fact, it is the reason we are in this situation thanks to the environmental lobby. Of course, we are for clean air, clean water and protecting wildlife, but this can all be done, and has been done with the help of advancing technology. That’s why we support MITCH MCCONNELL! He MUST win this election in November! Donate now!

Center for Individual Freedom Applauds Efforts to Increase Domestic Oil Production

June 28, 2008

In a press release June 26, the CFIF published a story on its website applauding President Bush’s annoucement to lower fuel costs by increasing oil production here at home. To excerpt:

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Last week, President George W. Bush {hero) announced new efforts to relieve burdensome fuel costs and reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil by finally tapping oil sources available right here in the United States. Center for Individual Freedom President Jeffrey Mazzella released the following statement applauding the President’s announcement:

“We applaud President Bush for his efforts to increase domestic oil production. As a nation, we need to seek solutions – both short- and long-term – to our nation’s energy problems. America’s eventual goal is cleaner, renewable fuels. The present-day reality, however, is that Americans rely on oil and cannot afford to pay exorbitant amounts of money for it. Hard-working Americans are in trouble right now as they struggle to pay skyrocketing prices for gasoline.

“Meanwhile, Congress denies this reality and refuses to allow development of domestic energy sources. Time and again, polls show that Americans want to use American oil and natural gas, but Congress doesn’t seem to listen. The politicians in Washington say they’re looking for ways to lower gas prices, but they ignore the fact that the key to our nation’s short-term energy problems can be found right in our backyard.

Oil hits a new high as Democrats sit and do nothing

June 27, 2008

I hate to say it, but why are Democrats, who control both houses of congress, dragging their feet on solving this energy crisis? As oil hits a new high today (over $140 a barrel as we write this), why don’t our elected representatives do something about it other than preach “conservation”. We will put forth several questions:

  1. Could it be that environmentalists are running the party?
  2. Do Democrats want the public to suffer with record gas prices so they will win the election in the fall?

While the oil issue is a non-partisan issue that affects everyone, it seems that Republicans are the only ones talking about a solution and energy independence. Today’s e-mail alert from Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is sounding the charge to DO SOMETHING to lower energy prices and move toward independence.

He says: The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Right now there’s an incredible debate happening in Washington — one that shows the clear contrast between two competing visions for America.

The liberal majority believes higher taxes, more government regulation, and a “gradual” increase in gas prices is an acceptable energy policy.

On the other hand, my Republican colleagues and I are working to ease the burden on all Americans by working for solutions to our energy challenges. In fact, I introduced a bill yesterday that would increase domestic energy production and promote new technologies to reduce our dependency on Middle Eastern oil.

But the liberals are upset. They’d rather play the blame game than get something done for the American people.

Isn’t that the truth? While Republicans are looking at ways out of this mess, Democrats are blaming everyone but themselves for the crisis. Doining nothing is not an option. Mitch needs your support. Go here now and make a small donation to help keep him in office. While he is not our state’s representative, we fully support his campaign and have donated because he has answers!

The solution to high energy prices is simple. Demand for gasoline and electricity has grown, but supply has not, so the price has gone up. To bring the price down, we need more supply.

But the left wants to move the other direction. They want to keep our abundant domestic energy resources off limits and raise taxes on gasoline and electricity.

This plan will only raise the price you pay at the pump even more!

Heritage Foundation joins the chorus

June 26, 2008

In a press release today, the Heritage Foundation joined the chorus of people pushing for energy independence of the United States. China and Cuba can drill off America’s coast, but politicians will not let us drill for our own oil.

No wonder gasoline costs more than four dollars a gallon: our country hasn’t increased its production to meet increased demand.

Other countries get it. Chinese companies are helping Cuba drill for oil 50 miles off the Florida coast.

But because Washington and state capitals succumb to pressure from radical environmentalists, American oil companies are prohibited from drilling in these same international waters…

They go on to say…

The Heritage Foundation’s renowned policy experts have a real plan to lower energy prices:

  • Develop our vast U.S. oil resources in Alaska, off our shores and in the Western oil shale by using proven, safe technologies.
  • Build nuclear power plants, which are cheap, safe and emit no carbon dioxide.
  • Authorize the construction of near-zero emissions coal-fired power plants.
  • Stop blocking the construction of new oil refineries.
  • Reduce unnecessary government regulations and encourage private-sector innovation.

Common sense, right? But the left and its allies in the media are against all of these policies.

House wastes time trying to blame dealers for gouging at the pump!

June 24, 2008

In another move of collosal ignorance and a complete waste of time, the House of Representatives tried to avoid doing something serious about gas prices. Instead they unsuccessfully tried to pass a “price gouging” bill. Even though they have had hearings with oil companies and concluded that there has been no gouging with the higher prices, our leaders insist on dragging their feet about doing something meaningful that would truly lower gas prices… like domestic drilling.

AP reports today, House Democrats failed Tuesday to resurrect a bill to punish price gouging at the gas pump, while maneuvering to block Republican attempts to expand offshore drilling, an idea gaining in popularity amid $4-a-gallon gas prices.

Now why would Democrats do this? Is it because they don’t want to lower gas prices for us? Are they really for high gas prices? Maybe. Or is it because much of their campaign contributions come from environmentalist lobbies? I predict if they go home for the July 4th recess without doing something significant, Republicans are in a great position to own this issue. Regardless of the party, something needs to be done now to lower prices at the pump.

Though our energy policy should be non-partisan, Democrats have made it so they are on the losing end of the argument by insisting that conservation will lower prices. The party talks about change, but after over 20 years of failed energy policies, spearheaded by those who oppose domestic solutions like the Sierra Club and other environmental groups, theirs are the same old failed policies.

Coalition for a Fair Judiciary gets in on the act

June 23, 2008

Coalition for a Fair Judiciary

Last week, Coalition for a Fair Judiciary sent out an action alert to warn people about a 4 point attack by Democrats which would certainly raise our oil prices. While we are trying to stay non-partisan on this issue, it appears that Democrats are refusing to get the message. We’d love to add them to the roll call, but not a single one of them is stepping up to help alleviate our high gas prices. Sorry, but it’s the truth. From CFJ:

When it comes to the price we are paying for gasoline at the pump, will conservatives in Congress fight tooth and nail for the survival of our country or will they wimp out and allow hate-America liberals to choke off your supply of oil and turn the greatest nation in the world into a third-world country?

That’s the question that hangs like a storm cloud over each of us… over our children… and over our grandchildren.

With a cabal of (Republicans-in-Name-Only) RINOs on board as fellow travelers, liberals tried repeatedly TO INCREASE THE PRICE WE PAY AT THE PUMP even as the price of a gallon of gasoline rose to over $4.00!

  • Liberals tried to sneak the Boxer Climate Bill past the American people.  According  to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell it could have raised the price of gasoline at the pump by as much as $1.40 a gallon — that’s on top of the more than $4.00 you’re already paying!
  • When the Boxer Climate bill failed liberals tried on Tuesday to ram through additional taxes on gasoline.
  • On Thursday, Representative John Peterson proposed a measure that would have lifted the ban on oil exploration in areas between 50 to 200 miles off the United Sates coast, a restriction that had been in place since 1981! On a straight party-line vote, Democrats on the House Appropriations Subcommittee killed the measure in cold blood!
  • On Saturday, Senator Barack Obama joined other Democrats and called for a “windfall profits tax” on gasoline!

Obviously liberals in Congress are not about to give up! They will not stop until they have raised the price of gasoline even more!
