Oil hits a new high as Democrats sit and do nothing
June 27, 2008
I hate to say it, but why are Democrats, who control both houses of congress, dragging their feet on solving this energy crisis? As oil hits a new high today (over $140 a barrel as we write this), why don’t our elected representatives do something about it other than preach “conservation”. We will put forth several questions:
- Could it be that environmentalists are running the party?
- Do Democrats want the public to suffer with record gas prices so they will win the election in the fall?
While the oil issue is a non-partisan issue that affects everyone, it seems that Republicans are the only ones talking about a solution and energy independence. Today’s e-mail alert from Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is sounding the charge to DO SOMETHING to lower energy prices and move toward independence.
He says: The stakes couldn’t be higher.
Right now there’s an incredible debate happening in Washington — one that shows the clear contrast between two competing visions for America.
The liberal majority believes higher taxes, more government regulation, and a “gradual” increase in gas prices is an acceptable energy policy.
On the other hand, my Republican colleagues and I are working to ease the burden on all Americans by working for solutions to our energy challenges. In fact, I introduced a bill yesterday that would increase domestic energy production and promote new technologies to reduce our dependency on Middle Eastern oil.
But the liberals are upset. They’d rather play the blame game than get something done for the American people.
Isn’t that the truth? While Republicans are looking at ways out of this mess, Democrats are blaming everyone but themselves for the crisis. Doining nothing is not an option. Mitch needs your support. Go here now and make a small donation to help keep him in office. While he is not our state’s representative, we fully support his campaign and have donated because he has answers!
