Conventions and Olympics Drive High Gas Prices Off The Front Page
August 25, 2008
While it’s true that gasoline has come down in the last few weeks all by itself, it is our opinion that this is because people are changing their driving habits. As you read in the News story about the declining highway deaths this year, people are driving less and using less gasoline. Less demand increases supply and lowers the price (this happens naturally in a free market).
Worse is the fact that our do-nothing congress has been pushed off the front pages by the distraction of the Olympics and now the conventions of both parties. Don’t expect gasoline prices to become front page news again until after the election. Unless citizens get mad we’re going to see more high prices later this year or early next year. Don’t doubt me! If congress can do nothing and get the same result, why anger donors and lose contributions.
Our biggest beef with Pelosi is that she is invested in Boone Pickens wind energy and that should be a conflict of interest when the nation’s energy policy is in her hands! This story needs to get out and fast. Remove her from leadership and get someone in there who is not benefiting personally from these policies.
