Daily Rant – March 31, 2009
March 31, 2009
I have taken a few days off so that I could collect my thoughts about what is going on. It is hard to not have a feeling of conspiracy when the right thing to do is right in front of us, and the government (both sides) refuse to it.
The Federal government has taken over the auto industry for the express purpose of getting rid of SUVs and trucks. You don’t think so? Look at what has happened. GM makes 22 or so models of vehicles, 12 of which make a profit. Of those 12 most are big trucks and SUVs. Those models are being phased out in favor of hybrids and smaller cars… ones that don’t sell.
For years people said GM was its own problem by not building cars people want. Well, maybe it was because of the CAFE standards that forced the car company to build cars people don’t want is the problem. Now that government owns 90% of the car company through the bailout, they are in charge of running the company… and they are deciding to phase out the money makers… What does that tell you?
Outraged yet? You should be. On to the local level. I am trying to get on the Republican Central Committee in Marin County, California. You wouldn’t believe how hard it has been to get a seat on a committee that does not have enough representatives to begin with. In the past it has been because of lack of interest. Not so.
Recently Republicans have been coming out of the woodwork willing to take positions and are being stonewalled by the leadership. It’s sad, really. You would think those in power would welcome the new blood. However, what is happening is they are dragging their feet in filling the openings in order to “stack the deck” with people of like minds.
Why would they do this? It makes no sense. We have never had a better opportunity to rebuild the party, and get some new blood in. More on this later.

‘Dream Act’ Amnesty Back! Five actions you can take now
March 30, 2009
‘Dream Act’ Amnesty for Illegal Alien Teens Is Back!
Sens. Reid, Durbin, et al, Reveal Their Plans, and We’d Better Move Fast to Stop Them
(Plus, several new actions, and one more giving challenge this month)
Hi! It’s Jim again, speaking for Roy and the rest of our NumbersUSA team.
This is your Action Alert on the new Dream Act crisis, so please read it all. There are several actions at the end of the letter. Please do each of them today.
Late last week we learned several pieces of our opponents’ strategy for this year:
The Los Angeles Times reported that foundations controlled by billionaire George Soros and others have put together an $18 million war chest to push through a GENERAL AMNESTY this year.
The “Dream Act” amnesty for illegal alien high school grads has been reintroduced. The open borders crowd expects this least offensive (to some people) amnesty to break NumbersUSA’s eight-year perfect record on defeating amnesties.
An aide to Harry Reid told the Los Angeles Times that the fix is in: “comprehensive immigration reform,” which we know to contain a GENERAL AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS will be brought to the floor of the Senate this Fall. So you see, they are hoping to amnesty the kids with “Dream Act,” then follow up by amnestying their parents, aunts, and acquaintances, a few months later.
Michael, it’s obvious that if we don’t “up our game,” we’re going to “get rolled.”
First, a big thank you to those who helped us make our goal of 2,000 donations weekend before last. But take a glance at the thermometer graphic and you’ll see we still have a ways to go just to maintain our usual level of leadership and activism.
So if you haven’t made a gift to NumbersUSA lately, please donate now! We really need your financial help to defeat these amnesties.
Let me remind you about the “Dream Act.” It’s an amnesty for illegal aliens who graduate from high school in the U.S. The immigration grievance lobbies argue that it wasn’t the fault of these kids that their parents brought them illegally into this country. Therefore, they say, these young people should be given an automatic path to citizenship, in-state tuition at universities, and the whole galaxy of other social benefits that only citizens are entitled to.
We object strongly! Every time someone is rewarded for breaking the law, bad things result. First, millions more persons will be tempted to illegally cross our borders, and bring their children with them. Secondly, government resources are scarce. Every subsidized slot at a state university given to an illegal alien is one less we ultimately will be able to give to a current American citizen.
The open borders lobby believed two years ago that the “Dream Act” garnered too much sympathy to fail. Well, it did fail—we defeated it soundly several times. But, last Friday, Sens. Dick Durbin and Richard Lugar introduced it afresh into the Senate.
We expect a huge, expensive struggle on this. The other side only lost by eight votes last time. Since then, the election has added several new open borders votes to the Senate. Frankly, the only way we can defeat this amnesty this year will be if every one of our activists sends all their faxes, makes all their phone calls, and contributes financially to our struggle.
I said I’d give several To-Do Action items at the end of this message. Here they are:
1) Go to your Action Buffet and send all the Faxes to Congress and the President you see there. This is hugely important. Don’t wait a minute.
2) Read all the details about the “Dream Act” threat on the NumbersUSA website. Some of our activists only read emails from us and don’t go to our Home Page. Only on the NumbersUSA web site will you see the in depth news and extended analysis by Roy Beck and others.
3) If you haven’t made a financial contribution lately, please donate now. You’ve already read that the other side has raised an $18 million war chest to defeat us on total amnesty. Needless to say, we don’t have that kind of big money funding us. We’re totally dependent on the activism and financial donations of our members to send your faxes and bang down the doors of Congress.
4) Have you signed our brand-new Petition to President Obama? This is new, different from the one several months ago. It’s important you sign it and submit the name of friends, so we can send the petition to them as well. As many of you have commented to us, we need to double our band of committed citizens.
5) Did you know you can affix your handwritten signature to every fax NumbersUSA sends for you? If you send us your handwritten signature using this special form, we will electronically add it to every fax you send, making them much more powerful when they arrive at Congress. (No other organization anywhere provides this service—please take advantage of it! If you are one of the several thousand who have already sent in your signature, you’re set already!)
Your Help Urgently Needed: Congress to Vote on Budget This Week!
March 30, 2009
The House and Senate are scheduled to vote on their respective budget resolutions this week. The Budget Committees of both chambers largely adopted President Obama’s record-shattering $3.6 trillion budget proposal in tact. That’s why I urgently need you to tell your elected officials to save this country and each and every one of us from financial ruin by voting NO on the budget.
As reported by the Washington Post, President Obama is right now marshalling his grassroots network of campaign supporters to ram through Congress with little debate the far-reaching changes to our nation’s healthcare, energy, and education systems contained in his budget.
We must counter their efforts before they bankrupt this country and set America on a path to becoming a social welfare state. That’s why your Senators and Representative urgently need to hear from you today!
President Obama’s budget would raise income taxes on individuals and small businesses by $636 billion over 10 years. It creates a $634 billion “reserve fund” for nationalizing healthcare that would be paid for with a combination of tax increases and cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. His budget would also impose a “light bulb tax” on all Americans by implementing a cap-and-trade energy policy, where companies would have to pay the federal government to use oil, natural gas, and other fossil fuels. That tax alone could cost American families as much as $3,100 per year in higher prices for electricity, gasoline, and other products and services.
Not only would these tax increases further drain American families and businesses of income during the recession, they will stifle economic growth, just when our elected leaders should be enacting policies to promote it!
This massive $3.6 trillion budget proposal comes on top of the $787 billion “economic stimulus” package; $410 billion fiscal 2009 omnibus spending bill that was loaded with more than 8,000 earmarks; and the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street, Detroit automakers, and homeowners who took out mortgages they can’t afford.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has predicted that the Obama budget will push the federal deficit to a mind-numbing $1.85 trillion this year and pile up $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next decade, on top of the existing $11 trillion national debt! CBO called these deficits, which would never fall below 4 percent of our economy’s gross domestic product, “unsustainable.”
Michael, please tell your U.S. Senators and Representative today to reject the Senate and House budget resolutions.
Sincerely,
Thomas A. Schatz
President
P.S. Michael, as if the President’s and Congress’ disastrous tax increases and spending plans weren’t bad enough, the leadership of the House and Senate want to adopt a parliamentary maneuver called “budget reconciliation,” which would allow the Senate to pass nationalized healthcare, a cap-and-trade energy policy, and changes to education with a simple majority rather than the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster. Tell your Senators and Representative that you oppose this undemocratic plan to stifle debate, along with the tax and spending priorities in their budget resolutions, today!

Daily Rant – Part 2, March 26, 2009
March 26, 2009
I started this topic several days ago to describe how our founding fathers, the richest men of their times, were willing to give up everything to give us ALL freedom to become rich if we want to be.
How different that is from today’s politicians see government as their public trough to feed upon and get fat. It is because we no longer have patriots, we have politicians. More on this later. I have to go to work to earn money to pay my taxes so you section 8 people can get your assistance!

Demand Obama Give His AIG Bonus Back!
March 26, 2009

|
The following is a special message from one of our advertisers. From time to time, we receive opportunities we believe may be of interest to you. Please note that the following message does not necessarily reflect the editorial positions of GreenWatchAmerica.
By now, you know the story. After receiving another $170 billion in so-called stimulus funding from the American taxpayer, AIG paid out $165 million in bonuses to its executives. Almost immediately, the Obama Administration and liberals in Congress FEIGNED outrage. They even had the audacity to claim that they knew nothing about these bonuses. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi pontificated; “We want our money back now for the taxpayers.” Senator Charles Schumer ominously threatened AIG executives; “If you don’t return it on your own, we will do it for you.” And in a matter of hours, the Pelosi-led House of Representatives passed a bill that would (in certain cases) tax 90 percent of the bonus money that is received from any company that has received at least $5 billion in bailout money. Essentially, the Pelosi-led House of Representatives played us for fools and used our public outrage to set a dangerous and draconian precedent. Furthering a socialist agenda, liberals in Congress basically asserted their authority to tax any individual (or group)… any amount… at any time… totally at their discretion… no reason need be given… if they don’t like you… that’s it. And President Obama cheered them on. He called it “a strong signal to the executives who run these firms that such compensation will not be tolerated.” But that’s not the end of the story and the hypocrisy here is staggering folks. Brody Mullins and T.W. Farnam with The Wall Street Journal put it rather mildly: “Some of the most vocal critics of American International Group Inc.’s bonus payments are also the biggest recipients of campaign contributions from the company, including President Barack Obama and Senate Banking Chairman Christopher Dodd.” It’s time to call these elected officials on the carpet for their hypocrisy! Since they claim with such self-righteous indignation that “we want our money back now for the taxpayers,” and that “such compensation will not be tolerated,” it’s time to tell Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama and Chris Dodd and Chuck Schumer to practice what they so sanctimoniously preach. If they want to lead us down the road to socialism; let’s see how they like having to live under the spirit of the laws they pass. Let’s see how they like suffering along with everyone else. President Obama’s $110,332.00 in campaign contributions from AIG… we want it back! Senator Dodds’s 281,038.00 in campaign contributions from AIG… we want it back! Senator Chuck Schmer’s $111,875.00 in campaign contributions from AIG… we want that back too! We want it ALL back… every thin dime… and not just campaign contributions from AIG. The American people want every single dime of campaign contributions paid by any company presently receiving bailout money BACK! We want it back NOW! We want it back TODAY! Use the hyperlink below to send your urgent and personalized Blast Fax message to President Barack Obama and each and every Member of the Leadership of the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate. Call them on the carpet for their hypocrisy and duplicity. Tell them that they cannot pass laws – in the dark of night – specifically permitting these bonuses and then feign shock and outrage when these bonuses become known to the American people. Tell them that if they are so desperate to “take back” the bonuses that these companies pay then they can look in the mirror and give back the “bonuses” (campaign contributions) that they have received from these companies. http://www.grasstopsusa.com/aigbonusesgwa.html AOL Members May Use This Hyperlink If the hyperlink above does not appear to function, please copy and paste http://www.grasstopsusa.com/aigbonusesgwa.html into the address bar of your browser. |
Daily Rant – March 26, 2009
March 26, 2009
Community organizer, my ass. He is a community disrupter of the highest order. Obama is creating civil unrest against a privately held company (at least it used to be) over something that he and his administration knew about.
What we are living under is tyranny. Obama was supposed to be a uniter, remember? Has anyone been united? I see the country more divided than it has ever been. This is what community organizers do. They get the neighborhood wound up and turned against each other, the business owners and the police. Is anyone surprised that this moron is behaving unpresidential?
Many of the people at AIG voted for Obama. I hope they see what they’ve done and come to their senses.

Moving at the Speed of Light! Obama on a Rampage!
March 25, 2009
“The nine most terrifying words in the English language: I’m from the government and I’m here to help” will be multiplied by at least 100,000 additional bureaucratic voices if President Barack Obama’s first budget has its way; and it probably will considering that Congress cannot wait to “help” even more.
Now we know why Mr. Obama admired Ronald Reagan for being a “transformational” figure. He wants to transform Reagan’s transformation. During President Reagan’s first term, inspired by his quotation that leads this editorial and an existing economic downturn that was in many ways worse than today’s (certainly so far in terms of unemployment and interest rates), he decreased non-defense employment by 100,000, cut (discretionary) domestic spending rather than increased it, and (with the help of tax cuts) let the economy hit bottom so that it could bounce back—which it did—rather than prop up failing firms. Facing a worse stock drop in 1987, he again let the market fall—and it came right back, in weeks rather than months or years.
President Obama is doing exactly the opposite. He is spending like a drunken sailor, micro-managing the economy, hiking taxes on potential new investors and increasing the number of government experts “here to help.” So far, the results have been opposite too. Instead of recovering, markets keep trending lower, only declining by more during the Great Depression. Looming behind are trillions in liquidity dollars created by the Fed which no one knows how to drain even if recovery should take place. It is early but clear that the president is trying to skate uphill against the history of the past century. That began with unbridled optimism that the government experts could manage markets but ended with a decades-long depression cured only by World War II, the collapse of central planning in fascist, communist and socialist nations, and stagflation and imminent bankruptcy of entitlements in the U.S.
