And Now We Want a National Sales Tax?

May 30, 2009

Times are tough. People are facing foreclosures, job losses, a poor economy and what do politicians want to do? RAISE TAXES! Remember the promise that you would not be taxed unless you made more than $200,000 a year? A National Sales tax will tax EVERYONE and make everything more expensive. How’s that hope and change working for you? It’s called a Value Added Tax… how is government adding value to anything???? It’s a LIE! – FedUpEditor

A national value added tax gains ground

With the federal government running trillion dollar deficits, revenues flat and President Barack Obama’s ambitious health-care plan to pay for, it was inevitable that the value added tax would make one of its periodic appearances in the nation’s capital.

The VAT is a sort of national sales tax, although it differs from the typical sales tax in that the VAT is imposed only on the increase in value as it goes from producer to wholesaler to retailer to the consumer, who ultimately bears the entire cost.

The VAT, its critics will be delighted to know, is an invention of the French who have had one since the 1950s. The United States is one of a handful of major nations that does not have one. The European nations do, running in the 18 percent to 25 percent range. Canada has a relatively modest VAT — called the Goods and Services Tax — of 5 percent, with exceptions for things like groceries.

“The Washington Post” notes that there is increased chatter about the VAT among tax experts, some of whom have pressed the idea on Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. And the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., is said to be open to the idea.

The disadvantages of the VAT are that it is regressive, initially inflationary and easy for lawmakers to raise incrementally.

The advantages are that it can be relatively simple to administer, hard to evade and it raises an absolute ton of money. Also, in theory it would allow us to do away with large parts of the income tax.

Note: This is a LIE. They would NOT do away with any part of the income tax. They will keep the tax code and ADD the Value ADDED Tax. That’s what it means. EVERYONE must fight back against this ridiculous idea or bread will cost us $50 a loaf! – FedUpEditor

ACU – Tell Obama and Congress What You Think

May 30, 2009

Hint: It’s great if you can contribute to help keep this organization going, but you do not have to contribute to submit your survey. Only boxes must be checked, including the one in the contribution area. – FedUpEditor

A reporter called the ACU office today to ask our views on a left-wing think tank study claiming America is a Center-Left Nation.

… a study that says Americans now embrace many left-wing policies.

They want the American people believing we are all in lock-step behind the President and the liberal Congress in calls for government control of banks and car companies, increased regulation on job creators, higher taxes and spending as far as the eye can see.

You and I both know that there are many in the liberal main stream media who will love to cover this story and who, in their own minds, helped create it.

However, we want to know what you think.

We want to send a message to Congress and the President.  We want to give them some insight on what Americans really think about ACORN funding, government spending, a foreign policy of appeasement and whether we support a leftward agenda.

Please take the ACU Survey now and help us send it Congress.  Please give us your opinions on where America is heading and help ACU spread the message, here and now.

Daily Rant – May 30, 2009

May 30, 2009

As I was growing up, I didn’t pay attention to politics. I hated it. And after all, isn’t that why we are in the situation we are now? Because me and people like me don’t pay attention while all these do-gooders in Washington pass legislation that actually hurts the people they are trying to help? I mean, how many people could you stop on the street who could tell you what is going on with our government?

My first thought is, aren’t we doomed then? If nobody is paying attention and don’t care what congress is doing, what chance do we have of turning that around?

There is a bit of good news I heard on the radio the other night regarding the American Revolution. Only about 30% of the people were on board for independence. So how did our founders convince the people that going to war against England was the right thing to do? Beats me!

We have leaders that, for the most part, are weak. Look at Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri. When asked about Sonia Sotomayor’s racist comments, she changed the subject and spouted some rehearsed line that had nothing to do with the question. These are our leaders!

Look at my sister. She is more worried about “chemtrails” than she is about what Obama and the Democrats are doing to our economy. This is a pretty good example of what we are up against. Not that everyone believes in “chemtrails” but that everyone is out chasing their own agenda that there is no time to examine what laws are being passed and how they might hurt our economy. It’s the quick fix mentality.

Look at what happened last night. Diane Feinstein shows up supporting our Republican Governor’s move to close parks that are running from the general fund. It’s called bi-partisanship. And how many people did she fool when she blamed Californians for not passing the propositions this month? I have several questions for Ms. Feinstein:

  • Did you know that the propositions were only EXTENSIONS of the budget tax increases that WERE ALREADY PASSED when Republicans caved in to Democrats, so the propositions and closing of parks are not related? In other words, the budget was passed and supposedly had enough money to run things. Props 1A-E only extended the state sales tax and car tax to name a few and did not provide NEW revenue.
  • How many offices is our state paying for you and all the other legislators as well as staff and their benefits? Feinstein has one office in DC and state offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Fresno. That’s just ONE of our representatives. Boxer has as many offices and staff. We have over 50 members of the House from California each with their own staff in each of these offices. Even if it turns out the federal government pays for these, what about our state legislators? Government is BIG yet they never do with less! We should demand it! When times are tough, government should shrink, not grow.

When does the blaming stop? When will politicians take responsibility for their actions? We are not in debt because we refused to pass propositions 1A-E. We are in debt because Democrats and liberal Republicans will NOT STOP SPENDING MORE THAN THEY HAVE!

It’s the same with Obama’s administration. Blame, blame, blame. Bush’s failed policies. Yada, yada, yada. Bottom line? Obama promised it would all be fixed if we elected him. It’s not fixed. In fact, it’s WORSE! Take the hit, Mr. Obama! Your failed policies are making the situation WORSE! Man up and take responsibility for your actions.

Daily Rant – May 29, 2009

May 29, 2009

I am writing this before going to bed. I just saw on the evening news that Diane Feinstein is standing in front of Gov. Schwarzenegger and lying! She’s blaming the Governor’s cutting of services on the voters defeating the propositions. This could not be further from the truth! The propositions were only EXTENSIONS of the budget that was already PASSED! This is the girlie man’s way of getting even with voters. Next year we will get even with HIM by getting rid of this turkey. Too bad Feinstein could not be next.

The truth is, let’s ask our legislators to take a pay cut, trim their staffs and close some of their offices. How about that for a start? Surely Mark Leno could help keep a park or two open with just a few modifications in his lifestyle! After all, we have to make adjustments, don’t we?

I am going to expand on this more tomorrow and show where a lot of waste is happening, and it is not in the public parks!

Cap and Trade Passes First Committee!

May 29, 2009

“After a one-two punch from Newt Gingrich and Dick Cheney, House Minority Leader John Boehner and other Republican lawmakers worry that their party has overplayed its hand on Nancy Pelosi. The Republicans’ fear: Gingrich’s call for Pelosi’s ouster has set an unattainable goal, and Cheney’s jabs at her during a speech Thursday will allow Democrats to portray the controversy as a partisan attack by one of the GOP’s most polarizing figures. ‘If the story becomes about us and not her, it’s a problem for us,’ said a senior Republican lawmaker.”

“A bill to create the first national limit on greenhouse-gas emissions was approved by a House committee yesterday after a week of late-night debates that cemented the shift of climate change from rhetorical jousting to a subject of serious, if messy, Washington policymaking,” the Washington Post reports. “The 33 to 25 vote was a major victory for House Democrats, who had softened and jury-rigged the bill to reassure manufacturers and utilities — and members of their own party from the South and Midwest — that they would not suffer greatly.”

Is this good law or is it political and designed to tax our behavior and punish us for being successful?  It’s a shame that people who represent us would design something so harmful for our economy, especially when we are having such a tough time right now! – FedUpEditor

Republicans MUST Oppose Sotomayor!

May 27, 2009

Conventional wisdom in the Republican Party is that we must not opposed Sotomayor because people won’t like us is we do. I’ve got news for you; THEY DON’T LIKE US NOW! If we constantly worry about what people on the other side think, we will never win another election.

I am convinced these people are POSERS as Republicans and are really Democrat plants. Look at their advice:

  • Colin Powell agrees with the Democrats so much that he voted for OBAMA! If that doesn’t prove my case, I don’t know what does. HE IS A DEMOCRAT!
  • Mark McKinnon is another liberal who didn’t want McCain to be critical of Obama. He is a Democrat. Screw what he thinks about opposing Sotomayor! HE IS A DEMOCRAT. He should leave the party, not us!

I am done contributing to the RNC because they are not representing me. I will contribute to certain candidates who share my views, whether they are Republican or Democrat. This is so sickening what is happening to our country. SCREW the conventional wisdom of the “Republicans” if that’s what they really are.

Media Matters is another inside the beltway piece of garbage that is out of touch with the rest of America.

Remember Obama Was Going To ONLY Tax the Rich?

May 27, 2009

Think again. Obama and his Democrat congress are going to start taxing everyone’s health care benefits, something that has been FREE to employees! Not any more. Congress is considering taxing the health benefits as if they were ordinary income. Companies will no longer be able to deduct the expense and workers will have to pay tax on the value of the health plan. So much for taxing the RICH!!!! You poor people were LIED TO! Any time a politician’s lips are moving he’s lying! And Obama LIED! Here’s the story from the Washington Post: – FedUpEditor

A new tax on employer-provided health insurance is emerging as a likely option to finance an overhaul of the nation’s health-care system, key Democrats say, despite opposition from organized labor and possibly the Obama administration.

Critical details have yet to be resolved, including whether to tax the benefits of all workers regardless of income and what portion of their employer-paid insurance premiums to tax. But the idea won a surprising degree of acceptance during a closed-door meeting of the Senate Finance Committee this week, according to several people present. And once-fierce opposition among House Democrats is softening as lawmakers confront their limited options for raising the estimated $1.2 trillion that will be needed to pay for reform over the next decade.

“There’s a strong sentiment that still exists in the House” against taxing employer-provided benefits, said Rep. John B. Larson (D-Conn.), a member of House leadership who sits on the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee. “But we understand how important it is to get a package through.”

Implementing such a tax would create a tricky political situation for President Obama, who last year spent millions on campaign ads that harshly criticized a similar idea advanced by his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain of Arizona. But while continuing to express opposition to the proposal, White House officials have repeatedly stated that all financing options are on the table. And some Democrats are already calculating how to explain a reversal.

Grassfire Reports Obama Trying to Kill Business World Wide

May 27, 2009

I wonder what other nations will think of the boy king now! They were so in love with the idea of this guy as President before he was elected. Now that he is trying to create a global depression, I wonder if they are still enamoured of this moron. – FedUpEditor

President Barack Obama’s assault on our freedoms is increasing exponentially. Consider the latest… Obama just announced that he will press for a major tax increase on U.S. businesses operating overseas. In addition, his $2 trillion global warming tax is now working its way through Congress while his team presses on with socialized health care and continues to talk openly about bank nationalization.

And he’s converting General Motors into “Government Motors” while offering huge political payback to unions in the form of ownership of GM — and you and I are footing the bill!

Our liberties and way of life are under direct assault by the Obama-led, leftist push to statism! The strategies we used so successfully in the past simply will not work. And our level of commitment must increase to meet this exponentially growing threat.

That’s why I’m asking you to take a bold and unprecedented step with me — and do something that we have never asked from our Grassfire friends.

Will you consider scheduling a monthly gift to Grassfire

and becoming one of our core supporters so we can fight

the assault of socialism? Go here to find out more:

Never before in Grassfire’s history have we asked for a monthly commitment. But never before have we seen such ominous and rapidly moving threats to our freedoms.

As a result, in the past few months, Grassfire has launched bold, new strategies and efforts to fight this onslaught.

Sincerely,

Picking a Supreme Court justice should not be a partisan issue. But that is exactly what it has become with the choice of Sotomayor by Obama. Someone MUST stand up and tell the country exactly what this woman is and what she stands for… and it’s not the consitution!
