If you have to commute on highway 101 in Marin County you will know what I am talking about. Recently billions of your tax dollars have gone to improve the freeway in San Rafael, California. While I will admit that some design changes have improved the safety of the on ramps and off ramps, nothing was done to improve the morning commute.

Seems like with all this destruction of walls and work done, it would have made sense to widen the highway, wouldn’t you? Northbound migh be a little better, though I admit I do not travel that direction (north) in the evening commute so I can not say for sure.

The made an extra lane northbound, but it is a car pool lane which, unless you are one of every 100 cars that has 2 or more people in it, you have the same number of lanes as you had BEFORE the new construction. It is sheer idiocy to think that adding a lane which is what we call an HOV lane is going to fix anything.

South bound is the worst. After doing all this construction and spending lots of tax dollars a south bound lane has not been added. In fact, one of them has been turned into a car pool lane. Is anyone else as outraged as I am? Fortunately, I live in Mill Valley and commute south to the City, so this does not affect me most days. But now that I play golf at McGinnis Park in the morning, I see how the unfortunates who live north of San Rafael have to sit in traffic as I do on my way home.

Cliff Notes version: Government spends LOTS of money, nothing solved. Can you imagine when we’re talking health care?

Ron Howard is an Idiot

I used to like Opie on Andy Griffith Show. I liked him in Happy Days, though I wasn’t so keen on the show itself after the first season. And I liked him in American Graffiti. His latest movie, Frost/Nixon, was well done. But what hacked me off was his analysis of the film in the Bonus Features on the DVD.

Nixon broke the law and knew about it. He was caught and resigned. To compare that in any way to George W. Bush’s presidency is ludicrous and idiotic. Bush broke no laws. He was not caught breaking any laws. And he did not resign from office. Truth is, Obama is over reaching far more than Bush ever did. What does Ron Howard think of that? My guess is he is just fine as long as it’s a Democrat doing it.

I think that is the fundamental difference between liberals and this conservative. I will not support people regardless of party if they are wrong. Simple as that. I do not subscribe to the theory that all Republicans are good and all Democrats are bad. There are some good and bad in each party. But the liberals I have met and hear from have no intellectual honesty. They can’t seem to admit when someone they have supported is wrong.

I realize this is off the Ron Howard topic, but I would bet if you asked him, he would support Obama’s government taking over of private enterprises and deciding to cut Chrysler’s advertising budget. That’s what our president should be doing with his time. Though Obama has never really had a job at Chrysler… or any job for that matter, he is perfectly qualified to make this decision.

It’s all about intellectual honesty, in my opinion. And Ron Howard has none. Nor do his cohorts that were interviewed for the bonus features on this DVD. The ones that spoke were all Hollywood leftists and were probably not acting when they made the film Frost/Nixon.
