Daily Rant – May 30, 2009
May 30, 2009
As I was growing up, I didn’t pay attention to politics. I hated it. And after all, isn’t that why we are in the situation we are now? Because me and people like me don’t pay attention while all these do-gooders in Washington pass legislation that actually hurts the people they are trying to help? I mean, how many people could you stop on the street who could tell you what is going on with our government?
My first thought is, aren’t we doomed then? If nobody is paying attention and don’t care what congress is doing, what chance do we have of turning that around?
There is a bit of good news I heard on the radio the other night regarding the American Revolution. Only about 30% of the people were on board for independence. So how did our founders convince the people that going to war against England was the right thing to do? Beats me!
We have leaders that, for the most part, are weak. Look at Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri. When asked about Sonia Sotomayor’s racist comments, she changed the subject and spouted some rehearsed line that had nothing to do with the question. These are our leaders!
Look at my sister. She is more worried about “chemtrails” than she is about what Obama and the Democrats are doing to our economy. This is a pretty good example of what we are up against. Not that everyone believes in “chemtrails” but that everyone is out chasing their own agenda that there is no time to examine what laws are being passed and how they might hurt our economy. It’s the quick fix mentality.
Look at what happened last night. Diane Feinstein shows up supporting our Republican Governor’s move to close parks that are running from the general fund. It’s called bi-partisanship. And how many people did she fool when she blamed Californians for not passing the propositions this month? I have several questions for Ms. Feinstein:
- Did you know that the propositions were only EXTENSIONS of the budget tax increases that WERE ALREADY PASSED when Republicans caved in to Democrats, so the propositions and closing of parks are not related? In other words, the budget was passed and supposedly had enough money to run things. Props 1A-E only extended the state sales tax and car tax to name a few and did not provide NEW revenue.
- How many offices is our state paying for you and all the other legislators as well as staff and their benefits? Feinstein has one office in DC and state offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Fresno. That’s just ONE of our representatives. Boxer has as many offices and staff. We have over 50 members of the House from California each with their own staff in each of these offices. Even if it turns out the federal government pays for these, what about our state legislators? Government is BIG yet they never do with less! We should demand it! When times are tough, government should shrink, not grow.
When does the blaming stop? When will politicians take responsibility for their actions? We are not in debt because we refused to pass propositions 1A-E. We are in debt because Democrats and liberal Republicans will NOT STOP SPENDING MORE THAN THEY HAVE!
It’s the same with Obama’s administration. Blame, blame, blame. Bush’s failed policies. Yada, yada, yada. Bottom line? Obama promised it would all be fixed if we elected him. It’s not fixed. In fact, it’s WORSE! Take the hit, Mr. Obama! Your failed policies are making the situation WORSE! Man up and take responsibility for your actions.
