Environmental Blog Has It Wrong
September 8, 2009
Regarding the comment to our previous article about Ecuador’s lawsuit in the news, Anna of The Chevron Pit Blog has it wrong. It was not Chevron who operated in Ecuador, it was Texaco! FedUpEditor asked if it weren’t another company who created the mess in Ecuador. Chevron’s response was:
“You are correct. It was Texaco. Chevron has never operated in Ecuador. [And] Texaco has not operated in Ecuador in nearly 20 years. Before leaving Ecuador, Texaco performed a 40 million dollar remediation program, in which the company remediated a percentage of sites that were equivalent to its stake in the consortium. Since then, the government oil company, Petroecuador has had a horrific record of spills and mismanagement. The photos of fresh oil are depictions of current Petroecuador operations.”
Apparently, environmentalists will lie about anything and anyone as long as it suits their purposes! – FedUpEditor
