DeMint Says, “Repeal!”
March 21, 2010
After months of backroom deals, political payoffs, and strong-arm tactics, President Obama and the Democrats have forced the health care bill through Congress. The bill passed the House of Representatives tonight by a vote of 219 to 212.
House Democrats also passed a separate “reconciliation” bill that includes minor changes, but its fate in the Senate will not stop the President from signing the health care takeover later this week.
We’ve lost the battle over this bill, but the war for health care freedom has just begun.
If you’re willing to join me in the fight to save freedom, we can settle the score in November by electing true conservatives who will repeal this unconstitutional and dangerous bill.
The simple truth is the bill cannot be fixed. It must be repealed.
This is why the Senate Conservatives Fund is launching a national “Repeal ObamaCare Pledge” to rally support for conservative candidates who vow to repeal President Obama’s health care takeover. The pledge reads as follows:
“I hereby pledge to support with my time, money, and vote only those candidates who vow to repeal President Obama’s health care takeover.”
Click Here to Sign the “Repeal ObamaCare Pledge”
America is teetering toward tyranny and we must work together to reverse the radical agenda in Washington that is being used to march our country off a cliff.
Electing just any Republican is not the answer. We’ve seen what happens when we send Republicans to Washington who don’t truly believe in the principles of freedom. We end up with a Democrat-controlled Congress and a Democrat in the White House.
Instead, we must help true conservatives who love the Constitution and who will fight to repeal ObamaCare.
The Senate Conservatives Fund has endorsed four Senate candidates for the 2010 elections — Pat Toomey (R-Pennsylvania), Marco Rubio (R-Florida), Chuck DeVore (R-California), and Michael Williams (R-Texas). These candidates have all pledged to repeal ObamaCare and they’re all rock-solid conservatives who will fight to defend liberty.
Please sign the “Repeal ObamaCare Pledge” and encourage your friends to do the same. Together, we can repeal ObamaCare and win the fight for our nation’s freedom.
Sincerely,

United States Senator
Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund

Pelosi’s Lifeless Folly
March 15, 2010
From Family Research Council: Next week, your clocks won’t be the only things springing forward. After exhausting all their options, Democratic leaders have decided to wrap up health care talks and act. As soon as Monday, House leaders will call their first vote on the Senate health care bill, signaling the endgame on a year-long struggle to wedge big government between Americans and their doctors. Despite the uproar from House Democrats like Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has dumped any plans to compromise on the billions in taxpayer-funded abortion covered by the Senate bill.
This morning, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) was blunt about the abortion question. “I made it clear that I wasn’t negotiating.” Rather than lose time trying to shore up the pro-life votes, House leaders have decided to go it alone and hope that they can siphon off enough votes from Stupak’s coalition to cram the plan through. Last night on MSNBC, Speaker Pelosi said she’s confident that Rep. Stupak won’t sink the plan. “Bart Stupak wants health care reform… I don’t think that… he himself would be one to say, ‘I’m taking down health care reform because of it,’” she said. Asked if he would “throw in the towel,” Rep. Stupak was adamant. “If I didn’t cave [in November], why would I do it now after… all I’ve been through?”
Clearly, the biggest question mark isn’t Rep. Stupak himself, but his coalition–many of whom will be under fierce pressure from on high. As some waver, I can’t emphasize enough how important your involvement is in keeping this coalition together. If you care about blocking this health care monstrosity, it is absolutely vital that you and your friends get on the phone and start calling your members’ district and Washington offices. The next few days will be pivotal–particularly if your Congressman appears on the below list. Remember that these are leaders who have voted pro-life at least once, so please be polite–but firm–that the Senate bill is NOT abortion-neutral (as shown in this document). Support: Help Defeat Efforts to Ban North American Energy and Increase Prices at the Pump!
March 12, 2010
| The Low-Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) is being sold to the American public as a way to blend transportation fuels with low-carbon alternatives so that tailpipe CO2 emissions can be reduced. But the fact is that affordable and reliable lower-carbon fuel options are not yet available. As a result, an LCFS simply will increase the cost of diesel fuel and gasoline and will place certain domestic supplies of transportation fuels off limits. Increasing the cost of transportation fuel and U.S. dependence upon foreign sources of petroleum is simply unsound energy policy.
Join our effort to defeat these measures, which would put an economic stranglehold on America and leave U.S. consumers stuck with higher prices at the pump. Send in your comments today! |

Help Stop Pelosi!

The Naked Truth About Nancy Pelosi
Dear Reader:
The recent scandal involving Democratic Rep. Eric Massa is indicative of the total corruption we are witnessing in Congress.
Remember when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised us a new Congress with new ethics?
Instead, we are hearing of groping incidents, a naked encounter in the Congressional shower rooms with Rahm Emanuel and Massa, tickling staff episodes and even worse.
Massa, in turn, has implied that he was threatened to vote for the Obama healthcare plan. He also suggests the the wave of nasty stories about him has been used to remove him from office and shut him up.
What is frightening about this episode is that it is not isolated.
We know that Nancy Pelosi fought to keep Congressman Charlie Rangel as chair of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Rangel was caught red-handed cheating on his taxes — for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The matter should have been referred for criminal charges. Instead, Rangel got a minor reprimand.
We are seeing Pelosi handle the Massa matter the same way.
Now that Massa has resigned, Pelosi says there will be no investigation.
This is only the tip of the sleaze-berg.
We at the League of American Voters are working day and night to stop Obamacare.
We have roadblocked this legislation and are close to shutting it down.
But, please remember that Obama-Pelosi will stop at nothing to pass their radical healthcare plan.
This is why Dick Morris is advising us that we need to expand our TV ad campaign from 23 Congressmen to 30.
We need your help to do this – Go Here Now
Right now Obama-Pelosi know they don’t have the votes.
They are working secretly to secure private deals with key Congressmen — threatening, promising and doing whatever it takes to snap the liberal troops in line for Obamacare.
In West Virginia, it could be called the “Mollohan-Miracle.”
Congressman Alan Mollohan has lived under the dark cloud of the FBI and ethics charges for nearly four years. But right before the healthcare vote, the Justice Department, lead by Attorney General Eric Holder, closed the investigation.
The League is running TV ads targeting Mollohan and 22 additional swing vote Congressmen.
We need to add 7 more — Help Us to Keep the TV ads on the air — Go Here Now.
Last week, Obama hosted 10 House Democrats, who previously voted “No,” to the White House for a meeting.
One of the ten is Congressman Jim Matheson of Utah, who has moved from a solid “No” to “Undecided.”
On the very same day, Chicago-style Obama nominated Matheson’s brother to a federal judgeship, issuing the press release to tout.
Dick Morris, the League’s chief strategist, says we can win this battle. We are very close.
We are now the lead organization fighting Obamacare.
We are already a major target. Just last week Pelosi’s Democratic Congressional committee issued a press release calling us a “hate group.”
They know we are making a BIG difference.
The vote will happen very soon. We can STOP Obamacare but we need to apply maximum pressure.
EVERY Congressman we are targeting faces strong opposition from their own constituents who don’t want Obamacare.
That’s why Obama-Pelosi are so desperate for a vote NEXT WEEK — and will lie and bully anyone who stands in their way.
Help Us to Stop Them Now.
With your help, over the past week the League has spent over $250,000 to defeat Obamacare with our powerful TV ads.
We need to continue this ad campaign into next week. Please help us do that.
Sincerely,
Bob Adams
Executive Director
P.S. – Massa is only the tip of the sleaze-berg. Obama-Pelosi are desperate for a vote NEXT WEEK, and will buy or threaten anyone who stands in their way. But the League can’t be coerced by corrupt Obama-Pelosi. Help us to stop them Donate Here Now.
Downsizer Needs Help! Huge CFPA on the Way!
March 9, 2010
Congress wants to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) that will regulate everything from credit cards to mortgages.
House Democrats want the CFPA to be an independent agency, but Republicans are opposed. As a result, Senators Chris Dodd and Bob Corker are thinking of making it an arm of . . . the Federal Reserve!
Both Democrats AND Republicans are missing the point. Only Congress – not unelected bureaucrats – should have power to write and pass laws. Please tell Congress to oppose the creation of the CFPA and tell them to introduce the Write the Laws Act (WTLA) instead.
You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .
I’m upset that Congress is considering the creation of a new regulatory agency, the Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA). The CFPA would do more harm than good . . .
* it will regulate financial institutions to supposedly protect consumers
* whereas other federal regulators are charged with protecting the health and solvency of these same institutions
* these differing objectives will lead to conflicting regulations
* that will cause harm to both consumers and the industry itselfAnd the CFPA is unnecessary . . .
* existing agencies already have consumer protection powers
* members of Congress claim these agencies haven’t regulated adequately or wisely, HOWEVER
* there’s no evidence that yet another new regulatory body will do any betterYou, the members of Congress, have ultimate responsibility for policy. You can restrain the bureaucrats, and you can give them specific instructions. New bureaucracies are not needed; instead, Congress must assume its Constitutional responsibility for ALL regulations.
Frankly, I do not believe any new regulations are needed. If you abolished the Fed, granted free competition in currency, and allowed free banking, the market would regulate itself according to the demands of the people. But if you are convinced that federal regulations are needed, the least you can do is follow the Constitution!
* the Constitution reserves legislative power – including regulatory power - in YOU, not in unelected bureaucrats
* write specific legislation, with no details left to the bureaucrats
* Executive Branch agencies should be charged only with enforcing regulations, not with writing themI therefore insist that you oppose the creation of the CFPA. Instead, introduce the Write the Laws Act.
A final note: I am particularly insulted by the proposal to make the CFPA an arm of the Federal Reserve. All 317 House members and 32 Senators who co-sponsored the Audit the Fed bills must be insulted, too. Please do everything in you can to prevent the expansion of the Fed’s powers.

Stop Congress from Giving YOUR Benefits to Illegal Aliens
March 4, 2010
Below is a fax that you can send to your 2 U.S. Senators, by merely pressing the button below.

Urge Senate to Demand Worker Verification in Jobs Bill!
The Senate has passed a jobs bill, seeking to put many unemployed Americans back to work. Unfortunately they refused to include any worker verification provisions that would prevent illegal aliens from also gaining access to U.S. jobs. American workers will continue to face unneeded competition for jobs, as long as illegal aliens will be allowed continuous access to our job markets.
Countless times already the American public has spoken loud and clear about their disapproval for illegal aliens being allowed to work U.S. jobs while the government does nothing to stop it. Tell your Senators that without worker verification, many Americans will continue to be left out of the jobs they rightfully deserve.
ROY BECK , NumbersUSA President
| PRESS HERE TO SEND NO-COST FAX |
|
DEAR SEN. (Your Senator’s Names Will Appear Here), I was disappointed to learn that the recent jobs bill (H.R. 2847) did not contain American worker protections. Please ensure that the next jobs bill has E-Verify provisions. More than 15 million Americans are unemployed, but more than 8 million illegal aliens have jobs. Doesn’t this seem unjust and unfair to you? I hope so, because I find it downright appalling. Unfortunately, H.R. 2847 will help unemployed illegal aliens (and would-be illegal aliens) just as much as it helps unemployed American workers because it does not mandate the use of the E-Verify system. I know you could not have modified this jobs bill because no amendments were allowed, but I expect you to support an E-Verify amendment to the next jobs bill (which the Senate will take up soon). Your constituents are depending on your to create jobs for unemployed Americans, not illegal aliens. Please don’t let us down. Sincerely, |
Weigh in on the White House Health Care Summit!
February 25, 2010
Urge the President and Senate Democrats at the White House Health Care Summit to Renounce Jamming through Obamacare in the Senate with only 51 votes! Take Action!
February 25, 2010
The White House Health Care Summit is underway and we’d like to draw your attention to Citizen Tube-where you can watch the summit LIVE from your computer at work or at home and submit your questions and ideas on health care during the event, and vote on which questions and ideas you think are the best!
The questions and ideas with the most votes at the conclusion of the summit will be asked of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH).
Eagle Forum strongly encourages you to join Senator Lamar Alexandar (R-TN) and his fellow Republicans at the summit and ask both President Obama and his liberal Democrat leaders in the Senate to renounce using the Budget Reconciliation process, which requires only 51 votes, to jam through Obamacare.
We encourage you to participate and to also submit calls and comments both through Citizen Tube and through the White House comment line and via their website. The White House is targeted in this action alert, so all you have to do is “Take Action” as usual and your input will be relayed to the Executive Branch.

Obama Falsley Tries Another Stab at Pay Go!
February 18, 2010
Last week, Congress passed PAYGO, a bill that requires SOME new spending to be offset by other spending cuts or tax hikes.
It doesn’t go nearly far enough. We must tell Congress that the ENTIRE budget should be subject to spending cuts.
You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .
Congress passed a PAYGO bill (H.J. Res. 45) that . . . http://www.gop.gov/bill/111/1/hjres45
* exempts 150 programs from any future PAYGO cuts
* encourages the use of tax hikes to pay for new programsThe President congratulated Congress for passing this bill, and then announced a three-year freeze on non-Defense discretionary spending.
Nice try, but there’s something wrong with this picture . . .
* PAYGO doesn’t apply to automatic increases in current entitlement spending, only to new programs
* Defense accounts for 40% of discretionary spending
* together, entitlements and defense account for two-thirds of the proposed budget
* the projected budget deficit is LARGER than ALL OTHER government spending
* tax hikes will only delay or prevent economic recoveryI know what you’re afraid of . . .
* if you address mandatory entitlement spending, you’ll be accused of hating the elderly, the sick, the poor, and veterans
* if you curb Defense and Homeland Security spending, you’ll be accused of undermining national securityBut Defense spending and entitlements are the main culprits behind our fiscal mess. And if nothing is done to address these problems now, America will be much poorer and weaker for generations to come.
I’m writing to tell you that NOTHING should be “off the table” when it comes to spending cuts. I encourage you, the entire Congress, and the President to . . .
* reassess the effectiveness of America’s vast military presence overseas, and of our entire Military-Industrial Complex
* find ways to cut costs and reform entitlement programs, including allowing individuals to withdraw from these programs
* reconsider many discretionary programs for both their Constitutionality and effectivenessA smaller federal government is no longer just an “option,” it is REQUIRED. We simply cannot afford Big Government.
If you commit yourself to cutting spending in ALL areas, I will applaud and support your efforts. Please respond and tell me you will do so.
