Democrats reject Bush’s call to lift ban on offshore oil drilling

June 18, 2008

Who are the bad guys now? We are in an oil crisis… no doubt about it. The only question is, who is going to solve it? Bush (HERO) tried to push an agenda which was promptly rebuffed by Demcrats. As they have done all along, they oppose anything to do with a Bush agenda. But if it’s the right thing to do, why not support it? We certainly are NOT going to CONSERVE our way to energy independence! Here’s the story from AP:

WASHINGTON – With gasoline topping $4 a gallon, President Bush urged Congress on Wednesday to lift its long-standing ban on offshore oil and gas drilling, saying the United States needs to increase its energy production. Democrats quickly rejected the idea.

They go on to say:

Congressional Democrats were quick to reject the push for lifting the drilling moratorium, saying oil companies already have 68 million acres offshore waters under lease that are not being developed.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CLUELESS) called Bush’s proposals “another page from (an)… energy policy that was literally written by the oil industry — give away more public resources.”

Sen. Barack Obama (CLUELESS), the Democrats’ presumptive presidential nominee, rejected lifting the drilling moratorium that has been supported by a succession of presidents for nearly two decades.

We have tried it their way. It is time for a truly NEW idea. Let’s stop the insanity and open up drilling NOW!!! If Democrats were saying this, I would be totally on their side, but they are not. The ONLY people coming up with NEW ideas are the Republicans, and Democrats should be very afraid of that in November when people are paying $6 a gallon for gas!!! Pay attention!!!

Another “Lower Gas Prices” petition and e-mail campaign

June 17, 2008

FreedomsWatch.org
Freedom’s Watch has a non-partisan petition to help lower gas prices. Go here to sign. Here’s what they have to say:

Rising oil prices are playing havoc with our economy. Continental Airlines just announced it’s laying off 3,000 workers; Ford is considering slashing about 2,000 jobs. And now what you pay for electricity is going up as much as 29 percent. If you’ve had enough, please sign our petition and email your representative.

Since the new majority took control of Congress in January 2007 on a pledge to bring down gas prices, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have not sent a single bill that would lower fuel costs to the President. Just the opposite. Reid tried to get the Senate to pass a “cap and trade” bill that could have actually raised the cost of gasoline by as much as $1.10/gal.

Meanwhile, Senator Chuck Schumer’s (clueless) solution to skyrocketing gas prices is to bully Saudi Arabia into increasing production and lowering their price of oil.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Believe it or not, America may hold more oil than Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Venezuela - but it is closed off to exploration by our own government. So why bully Saudi Arabia when, in terms of oil production, we could become Saudi Arabia?

The good news is that Congressman Mac Thornberry (heroes) has introduced the No More Excuses Energy Act (H.R. 3089), which would allow for more oil drilling here at home, increase wind energy, encourage the construction of new refineries, and expand clean nuclear power. If 218 House members sign the discharge petition on the bill, it will be brought to the floor for a vote.

Freedom’s Watch will tomorrow begin calling residents in selected congressional districts urging members to support H.R.3089. You can help, too.

First, sign our petition supporting this bill that we can deliver to the House leadership on your behalf. Second, click here to send your representatives an email telling them to sign the discharge petition for H.R. 3089.

Congress is all that stands in the way of energy independence and lower fuel costs for America. Let them know where you stand!

Obama Announces More Taxes On Your Gasoline

June 17, 2008

Obama is a senator from Illinois who is running for the highest office in the United States. He calls himself a uniter and is for the little guy. So why then would he propose to add more taxes to gasoline that is already near $5 a gallon?

He’s not alone. Other politicians are trying to do other incremental legislation that will worsen our situation, not only with petroleum products, but other forms of energy as well. FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Here’s what GrasstopsUSA reported this morning:

When it comes to the price we are paying for gasoline at the pump, will conservatives in Congress fight tooth and nail for the survival of our country or will they wimp out and allow hate-America liberals to choke off your supply of oil and turn the greatest nation in the world into a third-world country?

That’s the question that hangs like a storm cloud over each of us… over our children… and over our grandchildren.

With a cabal of (Republicans-in-Name-Only) RINOs on board as fellow travelers, liberals tried repeatedly TO INCREASE THE PRICE WE PAY AT THE PUMP even as the price of a gallon of gasoline rose to over $4.00!

Liberals tried to sneak the Boxer Climate Bill past the American people. According to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell it could have raised the price of gasoline at the pump by as much as $1.40 a gallon — that’s on top of the more than $4.00 you’re already paying!

When the Boxer Climate bill failed, liberals tried on Tuesday to ram through additional taxes on gasoline.

On Thursday, Representative John Peterson proposed a measure that would have lifted the ban on oil exploration in areas between 50 to 200 miles off the United Sates coast, a restriction that had been in place since 1981! On a straight party-line vote, Democrats on the House Appropriations Subcommittee killed the measure in cold blood!

On Saturday, Senator Barack Obama joined other Democrats and called for a “windfall profits tax” on gasoline!

Obviously liberals in Congress are not about to give up! They will not stop until they have raised the price of gasoline even more!

But what about conservatives? And what about the American people for that matter?

As prices continue to rise at the pump will they cave to the liberal opposition that is simply using this situation as a pathetic excuse to tax us out of existence? Will they simply shrug their shoulders and say “oh well we tried” as they have on so often in the recent past?

Someone has to be running Barack Obama. He is too ignorant to have gotten where he is on his own. Windfall profits are profits made by an entity in which they had no hand in producing… like the government! Taxes would be an example of windfall profits. Here is Wikipedia’s definition.

If you have a moment, go to Chris’s site and pledge a small amount to get your blast fax out. This is the same method we used to turn back the illegal immigration bill last year!

John Conyers – Another dunderhead!

June 16, 2008

I found this article today blaming George Bush for the high oil and gas prices! Can you believe it? I’m not saying Bush isn’t part of the problem, but Conyers is from Michigan, a state that is falling apart because of liberals like him who have destroyed it.

His article blames non-enforcement of anti-trust laws as the problem… HUH? We can’t drill for our own oil in a country abundant with oil reserves; that’s the problem! It is clueless congressmen and women who refuse to open up oil exploration or cut back regluation on building oil refineries (which would bring jobs to Detroit, pal!) that is causing prices to rise. Why don’t people see it?

Though his article is vapid and without solutions, we will present it here so that you can get an idea of what Democratics like him are proposing as alternatives to high energy prices! Isn’t it interesting that the party who talks about FREE speech has no place for COMMENTS on its website? Don’t they think blacks have anything to say about high gas prices? Is this issue just affecting white people? NO IT IS AFFECTING ALL AMERICANS OF ALL COLORS!

And I have a clue for you… it is not ALL Bush’s fault! Two years of Democratic controlled congress and look what we’ve gotten. I think there is enough blame to go around!

Pelosi and Boxer join the ranks of clueless representatives!

June 13, 2008

Here is another good one. Sounds like Feinstein, Boxer and Pelosi go to the same church of BAD IDEAS. Here’s what Christopher Carmouche of Grasstops, USA reports:

On Tuesday, liberals in the Senate tried to impose YET ANOTHER MAJOR TAX– masquerading as energy policy — on the American people.

This latest attempt comes just days after Senator Barbara Boxer’s Climate Tax bill — which Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said would raise prices at the pump by as much as another $1.40 a gallon — failed to muster a filibuster proof majority in the Senate!

But wait until you hear this!  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi actually had the gall to release a statement blaming President Bush for the Senate’s failure to impose a massive tax increase on the American people.

Here’s what she said:

“Senate Republicans have once again shown themselves to be unwilling to break free of the costly, failed Bush energy policies of the past. They have again adopted President Bush’s ‘drill and veto’ policy that is driving up the price of oil, diesel, and gasoline and leaving us dangerously reliant on Middle East oil.”

Read that statement again…

Is Pelosi actually saying that the desire to drill for MORE OIL domestically is driving the price up?

Is Pelosi actually saying that President Bush’s veto of legislation that would have increased our dependence on foreign oil is driving the price up?

It just goes to show that these liberals know no shame!  It just goes to show that they’re not even concerned that what they say makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!

Their policies can be summed up in one paragraph.

Raise taxes on average Americans who are struggling to pay the bills and blame President Bush when these massive tax schemes fail.  If it moves, tax it.  And make ANY EXCUSE, no matter how pathetic sounding, to raise taxes!  The American people aren’t bright… they’ll believe any idiotic thing we say!

If Nero fiddled while Rome burned, what are liberals in Congress doing?

One thing is certain, these liberals smell blood and they have shown that they will not stop!  They’ll pound and try to raise taxes on the backs of the American people until they tax us all to death!

Feinstein says domestic drilling won’t bring down gas prices

June 13, 2008

…Yeah, right. I e-mailed our California representatives about Pete Domenici’s (R-NM) bill about opening up drilling domestically in the United States. True to form I received an e-mail response typical to those I get from her, (to paraphrase, ”though we disagree on this issue, I appreciate your comments and concerns”) on just about any topic. But this one was surprisingly ignorant. She said:

Thank you for writing to me to express your support for the “American Energy Production Act.”  I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this legislation, and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

On May 2, 2008, Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) introduced the “American Energy Production Act” (S. 2973), which would open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and the Outer Continental Shelf to oil and gas exploration. This bill would also mandate that U.S. consumers use coal-to-liquid transportation fuel, starting with a requirement of 750 million gallons in 2015. The requirement would increase to six billion gallons by 2022. As you may know, Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) offered S. 2973 as an amendment to the “Flood Insurance Reform and Modernization Act” (S. 2284). On May 13, 2008, the Senate voted 56 to 42 to defeat the McConnell amendment.

I understand that you support increasing domestic oil and gas production and expanding our refinery capacity. I agree that it is important for the United States to continue to develop its oil and gas resources in concert with our efforts to reduce our demand for oil, but I do not believe that we can drill our way out of the current record energy prices. Instead of initiating oil exploration in environmentally sensitive places such as ANWR, I believe that we must take steps to reduce our demand for fossil fuels and make a permanent shift towards clean, renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.

Imagine the arrogant it takes to think that an elected representative would say something like this and expect that the reader would actually believe this flawed logic. So let’s think this through together.

  1. 1) If we drill domestically, won’t our oil companies have to pay less to bring the oil here than it would from another country? The transportation costs would certainly cost less because it wouldn’t have to travel so far.
  2. True, we get most of our oil from Canada right now, but where are they getting it? Are they drilling domestically or are they just brokers, buying it from other countries like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela?
  3. If we get our own oil, will we not be independent from OPEC who has held us hostage for years?
  4. Is Ms. Feinstein actually telling us that having more of something will not bring the prices down?
  5. Won’t opening up domestic drilling create more jobs in the US? So would opening up refineries. These representatives always talk about helping the little guy while they send our jobs overseas because of high taxes and regulations.

There is all this alarm about the potenial pollution these activites would cause. When hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, not one of the many oil derricks sprung a leak. Of course, that was never mentioned in any of the news stories. However, imagine if they had; what a story that would have been!

We should be past Republican and Democrat on this issue. However, which one do you think would side more with the environmentalists that would curtail our efforts to bring in our own oil? Can you think of any other reason that we would not be drilling other than it being an environmental issue?

In summary, all automobiles at the time of this writing use gasoline, even the hybrids. Until we come up with another type of engine, we’re going to need more and more gasoline as the population continues to increase. Say we all switch to the Smart Cars tomorrow. In ten years we will be back to this same situation and have to make the same decisions we should make today. Had Clinton decided to drill in ANWR ten years ago, we would have that oil today and possibly lower gas prices. Thank about it.
