Daily Rant Part 2 – January 28, 2009

January 28, 2009

Originally I was only going to do a WEEKLY rant, but after the first post, I realized that there is enough material to do a DAILY rant. Then I posted the first rant this morning and realized that there is enough material to do several rants a day! So this is my second rant.

Today, Newmax.com reports: WASHINGTON — The stimulus plan the U.S. government is currently considering is necessary to help American citizens, but it will likely not reverse the country’s economic decline, hedge fund manager and billionaire philanthropist George Soros said on Monday.

Wait a minute… is this the same George Soros that supports Democrats, helps them get elected, finances the Political Action Committees like Moveon.org? And he says this TARP is a bad idea? These are YOUR tax dollars at work! The story continues:

“It is not enough to turn the situation around,” Soros told the U.S. Conference of Mayors about the $850 billion proposal to increase spending and cut taxes.

The plan, which was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives last week and will likely be passed by next month, will help state and local governments balance their budgets and preserve important social services, Soros said.

At the same time, the $700 billion financial bailout known as TARP for Troubled Assets Relief Program had been carried out in a “haphazard and capricious way” and “without proper planning,” he said.

“Unfortunately it was misused and the way it it was done has poisoned the well. It has created tremendous ill will toward putting up more money,” Soros said.

George, does that mean you will support Conservative Republicans in the future? Doubt it. Anyway, remember what I said this morning about the Realtors’ “lack of” bailout? Read on:

For more than a year, the United States has been crippled by a recession that was triggered by a housing market downturn. Last summer, financial institutions with exposures to securities backed by bad mortgages began to buckle.

The government stepped in with the TARP to inject liquidity into struggling firms. Last week, President-elect Barack Obama requested Congress release the second half of the funds.

Soros advocated using bailout money to recapitalize banks, but said the $350 billion would not be enough. He said such a move would take more than the entire $700 billion.

The bursting housing bubble “acted like a detonator that exploded a much larger bubble,” he said.

There is much more, but he is comparing what is going on around the world to what happened in the 1930′s. Perhaps that will be true when it’s all over, but not because of conservative policies. It has been caused by Republicans and Democrats acting like we are a socialist nation. And as the “big dog” we are taking the world down with us!

Wake up, America. Let’s get rid of the liberal elites and get some people in office who know who makes the country work!

Daily Rant – January 28, 2009

January 28, 2009

I have had mixed emotions about this website when we changed tack and started to talk about taxes. On one hand, I am pleased that I could sense that this issue was going to be big. On the other hand, the prospect of it coming to pass makes me very sad for our country. It really wasn’t hard to predict. After all, Obama PROMISED he was going to raise taxes on the rich, so why wouldn’t we believe him? Then after the election, pundits told us that he was campaigning far left but would govern in the center.

Centerist? Hardly! Besides picking people to be his advisers who are as unqualified to be in their positions as he is to be in his, Obama continues to make mistakes by pounding home the 700 “stimulus” package. After all, when Bush was doing it, didn’t Democrats say it was the WRONG thing to do? And now because a Democrat is doing it, it’s the RIGHT thing to do? To be accurate, it’s actually the LEFT thing to do.

Making a Deal with the Devil!

Financial institutions and corporate entities were all standing in line with their hands out, begging for government bailouts. For years CEOs have been running various companies into the ground while feathering their nests before moving on to the next opportunity after being fired from the last. I am not into government controls of these entities. If they fail, they fail. But the taxpayers should not be footing the bill when it happens to keep them in business. That’s not America.

Many Realtors are failing as the housing market tanks, and nobody is talking about giving them a stimulus package. Surely as they leave the business it will add to the jobless numbers. Isn’t that what bailing out the auto manufacturers all about? Not really.

What is really happening is payback. For years unions have backed Democrat candidates, and now it’s time for quid pro quo. “We’ve helped you win elections, now it’s your turn to return the favor.” Realtors are not unionized, but auto workers are. Think about it and show me where I am wrong. Surely there are many more real estate agents than there are auto assembly workers.

Okay, so back to the real world. Executives make the deal with the government and now guess what? Congress and the President are now partners. Did auto manufacturers and financial institutions think that money would be free? Think again. Citibank found out when an executive had his office remodeled with taxpayers’ money. And what about that corporate jet they had to cancel the contract on? And how many jobs did that cost?

I think government should stay out of the private sector. If a company wants to buy a corporate jet or keep on an executive that is running them into the ground, then so be it. But don’t ask for taxpayer money to bail them out! And shame on the companies for taking it! They deserve every bit of regulation and grief they get for making a deal with the devil!

Finally, what can we say about Mitch McConnell? He was right on oil but wrong on the bail out. When people were calling to “ditch Mitch” last election we didn’t realize how right they were. Of course, chances are a Democrat would have done the same thing as MItch did when he supported Obama’s plan, but at least it wouldn’t have been a Democrat in Republican’s clothing that made the difference.

We will be working to unseat both McConnell and Lindsey Graham when they are up for re-election and replace them with real Republicans with real values. Both of them are clueless on TAXES and confirmations and are an embarassment to conservatives! Because they make decisions that affect us nationwide not just the states they claim to represent.
