Waxman, California, one of the Big Incumbent Problems in Government
December 8, 2009
Representative Henry Waxman, California Democrat [clueless], is talking about government intervention to save the newspapers which are failing. Freedom of the press was one of the reasons the first amendment was put into the constitution; to provide protection to news organizations who would keep the government honest.
So how will the industry give honest perspective toward a government to which it is beholden? In fact, the news is already so biased toward Democrats it can only get worse when its very existence is due to a handful of liberal politicians by taking the news out of the private sector and put it into the public sector. Once again, in the name of being compassionate, this Democrat is proposing we taxpayers fund another failing business model. Boo hoo.
I honestly think Waxman (Waxman-Markey or Cap and Trade) is one of the most dangerous politicians in the history of our country. While Pelosi and Reid ride high on the radar of most Americans who are paying attention, Waxman has gone relatively unnoticed. Responsible for much of the terrible legislation that has come down the pike, he is extremely dangerous. Where Woolsey is just lame and votes for bills, Waxman actually writes the legislation.
Waxman has been in office since 1975. Can anyone say, “term limits”? Yet he keeps getting elected to serve for California’s 30th district which includes Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Santa Monica. Back in 2006, Time contributor, Karen Tumulty, called him “The Scariest Guy in Town”.
Regarding laws for which he is responsible, Tumulty writes, “…the Clean Air Act, generic-drug legislation, food- and toy-safety laws, and Medicare catastrophic coverage, to name a few. In 1994, as chairman of the health and environment subcommittee, he lined up the chief executives of the nation’s biggest tobacco companies, had them raise their right hands and then shredded them as finely as their own products. His hearings helped pave the way for the lawsuits that followed, which led to a landmark $246 billion legal settlement with the industry.”
In fact, I will close by saying that many of our problems today are caused by incumbents like Waxman, Woosley, Rangel. By being in Washington so long, they have lost touch with the people they are supposed to represent and are only listening to the kook fringe lobbyists who stalk the halls of congress. I’d say more, but this is the last full day of our vacation and I want to relax before coming back to the buzz saw of the political fight!

Daily Rant – December 2, 2009
December 2, 2009
After a wonderful vacation in Hawaii, I am ready to get back to work. This Obama bum is getting on my nerves. I don’t care if he is the President of the US, he dishonors the office. But in the meantime, here is an article I posted about the global warming hoax.
Man Made Global Warming Hoax Exposed – OPINION
My biggest beef with the “science” of man-made global warming is that this hoax is being used to make policies which are hurting America. If people believed it and went on about their business, that would be one thing. But they are in our government which is forcing all sorts of decisions and taxes upon us based on this lie.
It has been shown that prosperity creates a cleaner environment so why would environmentalists want to trade all that for everyone living in a hut and pooping in a compost? Sheryl Crowe wants us all to be limited to one square of toilet paper. So much craziness abounds. Why would that be?
Because if there is no crisis, there are no dollars. If the earth only has 10 years before all is lost (as was reported 20 years ago), who wouldn’t throw billions of dollars at studies to see if we could reverse the trend? Seas were supposed to boil, crops were going to burn, forests were going to become deserts. So under this pretense, what we did was throw money at the problem to try and solve it. The problem was, the crisis was created to tug at our heart strings and pull at our wallets. Plus, no progress has ever been reported, no matter how much money we seem to spend.
The media has gone right along with the hoax as willing accomplices. Even commercials have gotten into the act and jumped on the “save the planet” bandwagon. All of this reinforces the notion that global warming is really happening. The only problem is that no warming has happened for the past 10 years. And why has the sun’s activity been taken out of the discussion altogether?
When having my discussion with seemingly reasonable people about the latest discovery of the e-mails illustrating the scam being perpetrated by many in the “global warming industry”, I often come up against the argument that man has certainly made his share of messes in the world. While true, is this evidence that man is causing global warming? Or that the earth’s temperatures are really rising? I don’t think so. I admit man can make a mess of things. But how long would the destruction last if we just left that area alone to nature?
In Panama, a project we are involved in was stopped for over two years because of financial and union issues and was essentially deserted. They had to hire people to “beat back” the jungle which kept threatening to overtake the land that had been cleared and building had begun. Many of the structures that had been started had to be torn down and rebuilt because of decay and pests after construction started up again. My point is, even on a small scale, this shows how nature finds a way to reclaim what was once belonged to it. If the earth recovers when man goes away, isn’t this same recovery happening while we are standing around in the middle of it? Over time, the earth recovers because there is a greater intelligence running things.
So if we can’t count on science to tell us the truth based on the facts, then it just becomes politics. If people are ignoring facts to prove a preconceived conclusion, then they are not scientists, but manipulators. And make no mistake; these people are zealots. As with any zealot, they have their followers.
Actor Ed Begley Jr. and people like him live their whole lives around the global warming lie. They are so invested in being right, they bristle when challenged at the notion that maybe they have been lied to. As a result they become willing dupes in the propaganda. Because of their notoriety, people listen to them and believe what they are saying, even though they have no background in science. Will we ever get an apology from them? I think they are so invested in being right that they will go to their graves convinced they are right, regardless of the truth. Just like the people who believe that 9/11 was a planned event, they will not be talked out of their beliefs.
Al Gore, king of the environmental movement, has a house that consumes many times the amount of energy as a common household does in year. While flying around the world in his huge jet from appearance to appearance, he tells us we must all do our share to cut our carbon output. I say walk the talk, Al.
What really amazes me is Gore’s carbon credit scam. In Mill Valley, I see people proudly displaying “TerraPass” bumper stickers saying to the world, “I’m gullible as hell!” The mathematics of this scam don’t work out. Let me get this straight. They are paying for the privilege to pollute more than their share by buying credits from someone who doesn’t pollute as much? How does that REDUCE carbon output? It doesn’t. We are also told these carbon offset companies will plant a few trees on your behalf. Has anyone proven that the trees actually been planted? And has anyone done the math on how many trees it takes to offset the carbon footprint of one person? I just don’t believe the earth is that delicate.

Obama’s Global Warming EPA Power-Grab is Moving Fast
November 17, 2009
Americans for Prosperity – President Obama, White House Climate Czar Carol Browner, and their Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are not waiting for Congress to pass cap-and-trade.
The enormous grassroots reaction to the outrageous Waxman-Markey energy tax bill passing the U.S. House has slowed Senate progress to a crawl. While cap-and-trade remains a major threat (especially with new “tri-partisan” negotiations betweens Senators Graham, Kerry, and Lieberman), the biggest threat of huge new energy taxes and government controls right now comes not from legislation, but regulation.
Based on a legal theory originally conceived by Climate Czar Carol Browner in the late 1990s, Obama’s EPA is moving ahead with greenhouse gases regulations under the 1970 Clean Air Act even though in 1970 global warming hadn’t even been invented yet, and the doom-saying scientists were instead warning of an impending ice age!
Click here to help stop EPA’s power grab!
Don’t take my word for it. Even the 1970 Clean Air Act’s original author, Rep. John Dingell of Michigan, who supports cap-and-trade, says the Obama Administration’s latest move is a recipe for disaster:
We are looking at the possibility of a glorious mess being visited upon this country. This is not what was intended by the Congress and by those of us who wrote the Clean Air Act. We are beginning to look at a wonderfully complex world, which has the potential for shutting down or slowing down virtually all industry and all economic activity and growth.
— Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.)
The 1970 Clean Air Act is such a bad vehicle to address greenhouse gases that EPA is attempting, illegally, to rewrite the law to suit its purposes. (Click here for details about the scheme) EPA wants to handpick which industries and carbon emitters it will regulate, instead of following the law as written. Not only is it illegal, but it’s also ineffective, because state regulators and courts will still be able to use these regulations to shut down the whole U.S. economy.
Fortunately, the EPA is required by law to accept public comments on its proposal. Please take a moment to let them know what you think about their proposed regulatory power-grab.
Click here to comment with the EPA on this power grab!
With your help, we can stop the EPA power-grab, stop cap-and-trade, and move towards a more sensible energy policy.
Sincerely,
Phil Kerpen

Scozzafava Bipartisan?
November 2, 2009
Not really. Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava of New York’s district 23 showed her true colors when she dropped out of the race and backed Democrat, Bill Owens. Say what?
This is not bi-partisan. This is a liberal RINO who has been shamed into dropping out by Conservative candidate, Doug Hoffman, the real Republican in this race. Once again, we are not supporting ANY Republican; we are not party hacks. What we want are true conservatives. Hoffman is one!
Liberals have taken over the Democrat Party… socialists, actually. Groups like Moveon.org, funded by George Soros, have essentially bought the Democrat Party so there is no party with true US values other than some of the grassroots Republicans.

Scozzafava Drops Out – Some of the Votes go to Hoffman!

From the Hoffman Campaign – NY-23
Campaign Alert – 32 days until Election Day! Donate Now
Our Republican opponent, Dede Scozzafava, today suspended her campaign and told her supporters they are free to support anyone they would like. We would like to acknowledge the class and dignity with which Mrs. Scozzafava conducted her campaign and thank her for her continued service to our great state. She deserves our respect and appreciation.
And now the race for the 23rd congressional district truly becomes a two way race between a Nancy Pelosi democrat and a principled Conservative Republican. We cannot take victory for granted under any circumstance. Pelosi and comrades are poised to spend a fortune to win this seat. They are even airlifting in Joe Biden on Monday. We must continue to fight as if life as we know it depends on it, because it does!

Must See News:
Daily Rant – October 28, 2009
October 28, 2009
Remember the old good news, bad news jokes? The government thinks we are stupid. Look at all the inconsistencies in the way they have approached problems and you will see they have no intention of solving any of our problems. Here are some examples.
Good News: We are going to have a national health care program that will be FREE to everyone! Everyone will be covered regardless of pre-existing conditions, and it will be efficient.
Bad News: We can’t get enough H1N1 Flu vaccine which is such a small portion of what they are promising to do for us!
Good News: There are news reports that people are actually very happy about being unemployed. With the numbers up around 10%, there are numerous stories in the press about how this is actually good for the US because people are spending time with their families and planting their own food, eating healthier, etc.
Bad News: Remember when Bush was in office and slightly over 5% was TERRIBLE? No, there is no media bias.
Good News: Obama was touting the new smart electric meters which will do things like force thermostats to be set to conserve electricity or run dishwashers in the middle of the night while people are sleeping.
Bad News: Why are they pushing everyone into electric cars if there is going to be an electricity shortage?
Good News: Government does not want to do anything about illegal immigration even though we need tax revenue.
Bad News: If we gave the work to documented workers and legal US citizens, we could collect taxes from them and lower unemployment at the same time.
Good News: There is going to be an opt out in the public health care plan.
Bad News: Oh, you can opt out of receiving benefits, but you can not opt out of the taxation of the program!
Good News: Our current government is going to draw down troops in Iraq so they can fight a legitimate war in Afghanistan.
Bad News: Not so fast, Obama. Don’t rush into anything.
Bottom line? This administration is incompetent! Let’s make sure there is a turnover in the next election starting with the special elections in November!

Health Care and Cap & Trade both require the Read the Bills Act
October 26, 2009
The healthcare bill and the cap and trade bill both threaten to completely remake two of the largest sectors of our economy. The President and Congressional leaders tell us these massive makeovers are so urgent that these bills must be passed soon — so soon that they can’t allow time to read them, even for 72 hours. But notice . . .
- They’re taking months to work out the gruesome details
- Most health care reforms won’t begin until 2013
- The effects of the cap&trade bill won’t be seen for decades
- After spending months on both of these bills, secret provisions will still be added at the last minute
In short, Congress is taking a long time to reach the point where they’ll rush these bills to a final vote, but then it will take years or decades for these bills to really take effect.
This is a contradiction. DownsizeDC.org’s Read the Bills Act would resolve the contradiction by compelling Congress to be deliberate.
Please send Congress a letter telling them they need to pass DownsizeDC.org’s Read the Bills Act.
You can use my letter as a model for your own, or simply past it into your personal comments . . .
Congress is taking months to craft legislation on health care and cap and trade. These bills will then have delayed implementations, or delayed effects. But despite these facts I know that you’ll rush them to a vote at the last minute, without taking the time to read them, understand them, or debate them. This is a contradiction.
I also know that many secret and probably unrelated provisions will be added to them at the last minute. This has happened so often in the past that I know you’ll do it again with the health care and cap & trade bills. This is irresponsible.
Neither I nor you will really know what you’ve passed for days or weeks after the final vote. This is intolerable.
It’s obvious to me that Congress cannot be trusted to behave responsibly, or even to follow it’s own rules. That’s why we need a law to make you behave. Please introduce and pass DownsizeDC.org’s “Read the Bills Act.”
END LETTER TO CONGRESS
You can send your letter to Congress here.
Please also add your website or blog to the Read the Bills Act Coalition. It’s quick and easy, and will build public awareness about the Read the Bills Act. In return, your site will be listed on our blog and be listed in a Downsizer-Dispatch. You can join at the DownsizeDC.org website.
Today we welcome 3 new members to the Coalition:
Finally, over the past three weeks the House passed 33 bills totaling 1,779 pages, and the Senate passed 18 bills totaling 1,728 pages. You can see the list of bills in the blog version of this Dispatch:

Palin Backs 3rd-Party Candidate in N.Y. House Race
October 25, 2009
This is a follow up to the story about Conservative Party candidate, Doug Hoffman, who should be the GOP choice for the candidate. Instead they chose a liberal by the name of Dierdre Scozzafava to run for the 23rd district seat. Palin backs Hoffman! If Republicans want to win again, I suggest they listen to her!
============================
Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has endorsed a third-party candidate over the GOP-backed contender in New York’s congressional special election, saying her own party has abandoned its core values.
The former Alaska governor, who was Arizona Sen. John McCain’s running-mate last year, said Thursday she was backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over Republican Assemblywoman Dierdre Scozzafava in the 23rd Congressional District race.
Palin said Hoffman, a businessman, stands for Republican principles – smaller government, lower taxes and a commitment to individual liberty – and that Scozzafava is more aligned with Democrats.
The offseason race to replace former Rep. John McHugh, whom President Barack Obama named as his Army secretary, has drawn national attention to a growing splinter between Republican moderates and conservatives who say they want the party to return its core values.
