This Will Not Stand!

Message from Newt Gingrich:

This will not stand. No one should be confused about the outcome of Sunday’s vote. This is not the end of the fight – it is the beginning of the fight.

The American people spoke decisively against a big government, high tax, Washington knows best, pro-trial lawyer, centralized and bureaucratic health system.

In every recent poll the vast majority of Americans opposed this monstrosity.

Speaker Pelosi knew the country was against the bill. That is why she kept her members trapped in Washington and forced a vote on Sunday.

She knew if she let the members go home their constituents would convince them to vote no.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine combined the radicalism of Alinsky, the corruption of Springfield and the machine power politics of Chicago.

Sunday was a pressured, bought, intimidated vote worthy of Hugo Chavez but unworthy of the United States of America.

It is hard to imagine how much pressure they brought to bear on congressman Stupak to get him to accept a cynical, phony clearly illegal and unconstitutional executive order on abortion. The ruthlessness and inhumanity of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine was most clearly on display in their public humiliation of Stupak.

The real principles of the machine were articulated by Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings who was impeached and removed from the bench as a federal judge, before being elected to the House when he said “There ain’t no rules here, we’re trying to accomplish something…All this talk about rules…When the deal goes down…we make ‘em up as we go along.”

It is hard for the American people to believe their leaders on the Left are this bad. They are.

The American people will not allow a corrupt machine to dictate their future.

Together we will pledge to repeal this bill and start over

Together we will prove that this will not stand.

2010 and 2012 will be among the most important elections in American history.

These elections will allow us to save America from a left-wing machine of unparalleled corruption, arrogance and cynicism.

Sunday was one more step in the fight against a “Washington knows best” and “Washington should run everything” attitude.

Let us turn now to the Senate to continue this fight for real reform, for real self government, and for policies that create jobs, improve health outcomes, and increase freedom.

Chuck DeVore Slams Health Care Fiasco!

The passage of this phony healthcare “reform” is a tremendous blow to the cause of fiscal restraint, limited government, Constitutional principles, and free enterprise. In short, it strikes directly at America’s core principles. This is shameful moment in the history of our country — and especially the Democratic Party, which has apparently come unmoored from whatever remaining attachment it had to the ideals of our Founders. In place of a dedication to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” there is only a rapacious impulse to ever-expanded state control, and an avaricious imperative to seize ever-more of your rightful possessions.

The Democrats are beyond reason. They are beyond appeals to common sense and patriotism. The corrupt milieu that produced President Barack Obama has metastasized and seated itself in Washington, D.C. — and we saw it on full display in the razor-thin passage of this healthcare “reform.” Every trick, every pressure, every shameless deal was done. Down to perverting the rules of the American Congress, the Democrats stopped at nothing.

Perhaps most pathetic was the spectacle of Michigan Congressman Bart Stupak, who exchanged his pro-life principles for a hollow promise from the most pro-abortion President in American history. That executive order won’t stand up to judicial scrutiny — the President cannot override the law by fiat — and pro-life organizations like National Right to Life and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops understand that it’s a worthless scrap of paper. Yet Rep. Stupak’s desperation for thin cover to do the wrong thing is useful in one way: it illustrates the union of moral vacuum and maneuvering deception at the core of the Democratic effort for Obamacare.

That’s why the American people will throw them out of office this November.

When Americans vote this fall, they’ll vote for candidates who stood strong against Obamacare from the start — and who will overturn it once in office. In California, I am the only U.S. Senate candidate of either party who fits that bill. I’ve been speaking out against the government takeover of American healthcare since the President first mentioned it. There are so many simple steps we could take to make healthcare more affordable, more accessible, and more efficient — without expanding the reach and control of the federal government. They include, but are not limited to:

# Allowing interstate competition between health care plans.
# Revising the tax code to reward and encourage purchases of coverage and healthcare saving.
# Curtailing junk lawsuits that drive up healthcare costs — and not coincidentally, line the pockets of Democratic contributors.
# Attack fraud in medical billing.
# Encouraging a restructuring of American health insurance toward an individual-policy market rather than an employer-mandate system.

Obamacare accomplishes none of these goals. One of my first priorities in the United States Senate will be to repeal it and start over. The American people are profoundly unsettled by today’s vote, and they deserve no less.

The movement to turn back the Democrats’ takeover of American healthcare has already begun: but it will only happen if Republicans select the right candidates for the job. In the U.S Senate race in California, I am that candidate. I’m the only one who signed the Club for Growth’s “Repeal It” pledge that commits its signatories to “sponsor and support legislation to repeal any federal health care takeover passed in 2010, and replace it with real reforms that lower health care costs without growing government.”

Neither Tom Campbell nor Carly Fiorina joined me in this. Worse, Carly Fiorina has been telling audiences that though she opposes this particular bill, she agrees with President Obama’s “goals” for healthcare reform. As recently as late October, she said she had no opinion on Obamacare — surely the only public figure in America to have remained ignorant of this signal issue.

Well, I do not agree with President Obama’s “goals.” I am pledged to overturn what he’s done today. I’m the only person in this race who can say that. And if I am sent to the United States Senate — it will be job one.

Q: What is the Socialist International?

A:  It is the worldwide organization of socialist, social democratic and labor parties. It currently brings together 131 political parties and organizations from all continents. Its origins go back to the early international organizations of the labor movement of the last century.* It has existed in its present form since 1951, when it was re-established at the Frankfurt Congress. They are now headquartered in London, England.

* In 1864, representatives of English and French industrial workers founded the International Workingmen’s Association in London. Karl Marx, who was living in London at the time, became the First International’s dominant figure. Never mind their soothing-sounding leftist doublespeak like ‘Environmental Justice’ (whatever that is supposed to mean) or the soft & fuzzy ‘Global Non-Violence’ (a euphemism for unilateral disarmament) — the DSA’s self-declared principle of ‘Economic Redistribution’ clearly shows where these folks are coming from and exactly where they plan to take America.

New TV Ads Tie Massive Unemployment to Lack of Immigration Enforcement

CAPS and its partners in the Coalition for the American Worker launched two new TV ads asking why the President and congressional leaders have cut job site enforcement of immigration laws at a time when at least 8 million jobs are held by illegal foreign workers and so many Americans are unemployed.

While President Obama says his top priority is jobs he apparently does not mean jobs for Americans. The Country faces the highest unemployment rate in decades. Americans desperately need jobs. Yet the Obama Administration is reducing worksite enforcement of immigration laws even though worksite enforcement opens jobs for Americans. When illegal workers are caught, they’re not often deported, which means they can take another American job. Also, the U.S. continues to admit more than a million foreign workers a year to take American jobs. Good paying jobs. The Low-Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) is being sold to the American public as a way to blend transportation fuels with low-carbon alternatives so that tailpipe CO2 emissions can be reduced. But the fact is that affordable and reliable lower-carbon fuel options are not yet available. As a result, an LCFS simply will increase the cost of diesel fuel and gasoline and will place certain domestic supplies of transportation fuels off limits. Slaughter House Rules

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is making her list and checking it twice. Yet even after the President’s 52^nd speech on the subject, House Democrats can’t seem to twist enough arms to hit the magic number (216) for passing the Senate health care bill. After playing every card up their sleeve, the leadership says that desperate times call for desperate measures–like passing the bill without voting on it. Come again? As we picked up earlier this week on Capitol Hill, Congress Daily is reporting the House brain trust is mulling over a crazy scheme by Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) to rewrite the chamber’s rules so that no vote would be necessary to advance the Senate bill.

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) talked about this latest twist on his blog. “The Slaughter Solution is a plan by… Democratic Chair of the powerful House Rules Committee… to get the health care legislation through the House without an actual vote on the Senate-passed health care bill… Under Slaughter’s scheme, Democratic leaders will overcome the [lack of votes] by simply ‘deeming’ the Senate bill passed in the House–without an actual vote by members…”

The obvious question is: how could this be constitutional? The answer? It isn’t! This afternoon, the Senate Parliamentarian ruled that the President must sign the monstrous Senate-passed health care overhaul bill–which includes over a dozen bribes to Democratic Senators and a massive expansion of government-funded abortion–before the Senate can act on a companion reconciliation package. Clearly, the liberal leadership is planning to launch even more attacks on the Constitution–all but guaranteeing that the biggest “slaughter” will be in the voting booth this November.

Say What? Program will pay homeowners to sell at a loss

This is outrageous. Now we have a government program to pay homeowners to sell at a loss? First they take over an auto company and now they are invading the real estate industry! Crimminal! Time to let the adults run the government again! – FedUpEditor

Downsizer Needs Help! Huge CFPA on the Way!

Congress wants to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) that will regulate everything from credit cards to mortgages.

House Democrats want the CFPA to be an independent agency, but Republicans are opposed. As a result, Senators Chris Dodd and Bob Corker are thinking of making it an arm of . . . the Federal Reserve!

Both Democrats AND Republicans are missing the point. Only Congress – not unelected bureaucrats – should have power to write and pass laws. Please tell Congress to oppose the creation of the CFPA and tell them to introduce the Write the Laws Act (WTLA) instead.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

I’m upset that Congress is considering the creation of a new regulatory agency, the Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA). The CFPA would do more harm than good . . .

* it will regulate financial institutions to supposedly protect consumers
* whereas other federal regulators are charged with protecting the health and solvency of these same institutions
* these differing objectives will lead to conflicting regulations
* that will cause harm to both consumers and the industry itself

And the CFPA is unnecessary . . .

* existing agencies already have consumer protection powers
* members of Congress claim these agencies haven’t regulated adequately or wisely, HOWEVER
* there’s no evidence that yet another new regulatory body will do any better

You, the members of Congress, have ultimate responsibility for policy. You can restrain the bureaucrats, and you can give them specific instructions. New bureaucracies are not needed; instead, Congress must assume its Constitutional responsibility for ALL regulations.

Frankly, I do not believe any new regulations are needed. If you abolished the Fed, granted free competition in currency, and allowed free banking, the market would regulate itself according to the demands of the people. But if you are convinced that federal regulations are needed, the least you can do is follow the Constitution!

* the Constitution reserves legislative power – including regulatory power - in YOU, not in unelected bureaucrats
* write specific legislation, with no details left to the bureaucrats
* Executive Branch agencies should be charged only with enforcing regulations, not with writing them

I therefore insist that you oppose the creation of the CFPA. Instead, introduce the Write the Laws Act.

A final note: I am particularly insulted by the proposal to make the CFPA an arm of the Federal Reserve. All 317 House members and 32 Senators who co-sponsored the Audit the Fed bills must be insulted, too. Please do everything in you can to prevent the expansion of the Fed’s powers.

Obama Lies Again About Opening Off Shore Drilling!

Dear Patriots ~ Be sure to follow the link below for the latest promise broken by President Obama: stalling offshort drilling until 2012.  You read that right. Apparently President Obama was too busy campaigning in the summer of 2008 to notice the impact that paying nearly $4.50 a gallon for gas had on the economy and our households. 

Our President is also apparently unaware that nearly 75% of Americans are in favor of responsible offshore drilling. (Silly us!) As the link below points out, “According to the Minerals Management Service, there are an estimated 86 billion barrels of oil and 420 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the Outer Continental Shelf, collectively representing a clear path toward being able to ignore OPEC and foreign dictators for our energy.

Developing these resources would also create hundreds of thousands of jobs annually and generate billions of dollars in tax revenue for the government.” This is the fundamental problem with having an inexperienced ideologue running the country. The will of the people? What’s best for the country? What’s best for Americans? I know… don’t make you laugh (or weep).

Thoughts on Big Government:

Most people don’t realize the extent to which big government negatively affects us as individuals and as a country. Many of the programs created by our legislators seem compassionate on the surface. But when we look deeper, we see that all these well-meaning entitlements have actually hurt the United States and our economy, not just today, but well into the future. As an example of the “Too Big to Fail” mentality, we see “Big Government’s” continued debt doubling down by propping up private businesses, something our government should not be doing. 

Here’s my point.  In the 80s, American businesses were getting their butts kicked by Japan in all areas of the private sector; most notably manufacturing and specifically in the automobile industry. Japan was the leader in quality improvements, efficiency, and increased productivity. What happened was a change in corporate attitude by U.S. businesses that led to one of our biggest booms in the 90s, where we set the pace in the free market and broke the back of the Soviet Union as well.  Remember that one? To accomplish this boom, government stepped back, allowing business the opportunity to succeed in creating an environment based on confidence. Consumers felt confident, as did investors. And who won?…Americans.  Jobs where plentiful and, oh boy, we sure could use those jobs today!

Here’s the other side of the coin.  Today we are embroiled in three issues that do not speak to the competitive advantage discussed above, but instead continue down the path to becoming more regulated by government. These sectors are energy, health care and education. All three are resistant to the culture of free market competition and have become heavily regulated by “Big Government”. Take a look at the Energy Department with a budget of $24.7 billion.  Are we more reliant on foreign oil or less? Are we any closer to innovative alternative fuels without them being taxpayer subsidized? And what about Government Health Care? What will happen when we see one sixth of our economy in the hands of “Big Government,” running it like Amtrak or the USPS?  We have the Department of Education with a $63.5 billion budget.  How’s that working for us, or should I say, for our children?  These questions beg the obvious. “Big Government” needs to get out of the way and let the free market work in new and innovative ways. Not to do so will never allow Americans to feel the confidence we need (remember I said it earlier) to invest in America and in our future. “Big Government” and big entitlement programs will only lead to a nation of dependence and a culture of government elitism.

It would seem that the business of our government is to create more government. In fact, the only sector that has grown during this recession was the Public Sector, i.e., government jobs. And a USA Today report shows that in one year, six-figure government salaries fast became the norm under this current administration. Remember, government jobs put back into the economy only what is left from the taxes  it first has taken out of the economy. Government does not create wealth; the Private Sector is where wealth is truly created. Individuals and businesses, big and small, are pulling the cart. Now, while many of us are figuring out ways to cut back and do with less, our government is riding high and giving itself raises like there is no tomorrow. 

People are finally starting to realize that the system is broken, and it is time for someone to fix it before it is too late. We have relied on countless numbers of career politicians to solve these problems, and we still are waiting. Instead of listening to their constituents, they seem to think their jobs are about getting re-elected.

Now is the time to put people in office with real life experience, ones who REALLY know how to create jobs. It is time we stood together and put our trust in some new faces. When I am elected, my pledge is to represent YOU. Partisan politics will be a thing of the past. I will consider each bill on its merit and how it will best benefit the people in my district. I promise to work hard, speak up and change the way things get done in Washington. You have my word.
