Daily Rant – October 22, 2009
October 22, 2009
The other day Rush Limbaugh made a point that cap and trade supporters and global warming extremists are much like terrorists in that the latter send out other people to kill themselves for the cause, but will not do so themselves. Same with the environmentalists. Look at Al Gore. What a joke. If airplanes and big houses are wasting energy and causing pollution, then why is he leading the way with jet trips and huge mansions that suck energy? He should be leading the way and walking to all his gigs or driving a Prius and living in a one room log cabin.
So what’s good for us, does not apply to the liberal political elite. And people are falling for it! They are not making the connection. How can they not they see what hypocrites they are? If liberals in San Francisco really think humans exhaling carbon dioxide is ruining the world, then why are they not the first to lay down in front of a bus and take their own lives? Come on, lead the way! I dare you!
Same with Democrats supposedly caring for the poor… only if it means votes. You don’t see fat cats like George Soros, Nancy Pelosi or John Kerry standing down on the corner handing out their money? No, what we see is them dipping into our pockets and giving the needy OUR money! Now that’s compassion. And look at the ignorance rampant in the recent Detroit giveaway. Thousands of people showed up to fill out applications for money. I really wonder how much each of these people will actually get. And how much of those funds are eaten up in the bureaucracy created to manage that program? It would be more effective if they just dropped money from a helicopter and forget about the bookkeeping. Besides, these poor people don’t really know where the money comes from in the first place! It’s Obama Money! That’s why they voted for him!
The other day, we had our State Senator, Mark Leno, push the notion that studies showed poor dental care leads to more crime, and this is the reason we need government health and dental programs. Did the study also show that these same people all have eaten carrots sometime in their lives? My point is this; it is poverty that creates most crime. Those that have not want to take from those who have. If they don’t spend their booty on dental care is irrelevant, not the cause of the crime, just as eating carrots is also a coincidence. Yet they push this flawed study to promote what they really want, government run health care!
Finally, I am getting tired of people demonizing big businesses. Companies like big oil, big pharmaceuticals, insurance companies, financial institutions, etc. are constantly being run down by liberals. Here’s my question. These companies employ a lot of people. The companies pay a lot of taxes. The people they employ pay a lot of taxes. This money goes to run the government and to pay for social programs. So what happens when they go out of business? Who will be left to pull the cart full of freeloaders? When will things turn around to where businesses are being thanked for their contributions to the economy and not demonized?
As I have pointed out before, government does not operate for a profit. For this reason, it can not make the economy grow no matter how much stimulus they throw at it. In fact, government exists solely because of taxes they take from those of us who actually operate on a profit. So if they kill the golden goose, the American economy, with higher taxes and oppressive regulations, where will the money come from to run government? They are printing and borrowing money at an extraordinary rate to the point where that paper is not going to be worth much before long. The US dollar has already lost a lot of ground compared to gold and other currencies. How long before people wake up?
The Republican Party has yet to have a conservative voice step forward that supports the businesses that makes our country great. There are a lot of local races where Democrats are in danger of being ousted, but if the party keeps putting forward national candidates like McCain and Bush, we can expect Democrats to rule the day. Where are the conservatives?

The next time any Democrat says that we need to tax the rich think about this. Obama leaves New Orleans to show up in San Francisco for a $35,000 a couple fund raiser. Do you know any poor people who can afford to go to one of these? And if these are rich people why would they support Obama when they know he is going to tax the hell out of them? He isn’t and they wouldn’t.
Good news: Chris Simcox of Minuteman fame is running against John McCain for the Senate in Arizona! This is wonderful news. For a long time I wondered why a conservative state like Arizona would elect such a limp-spined representative like McCain. Here’s our chance to start changing the Republican Party from the blue-blood liberal eastern elites to one represented by the common folk. There are other races, and I will comment later this week.

Republicans Are Really In Trouble Now
October 18, 2009
If this poll is true, conservatives are in real trouble in 2012. Although it is a long time away, if Huckabee leads the race, Republicans are still not getting the message.
Newsmax: Twenty-nine percent of Republican voters nationwide say former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is their pick to represent the GOP in the 2012 presidential campaign. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 24 percent prefer former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney while 18 percent would cast their vote for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich gets 14 percent of the vote while Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty gets 4 percent. Six percent of GOP voters prefer some other candidate while 7 percent remain undecided.
These numbers reflect an improvement for Huckabee since July when the three candidates were virtually even. Huckabee’s gain appears to be Palin’s loss as Romney’s support has barely changed.
The numbers for Huckabee and Romney look even stronger when GOP voters were asked which candidate they would least like to see get the nomination. Pawlenty came on top in that category with 28 percent. Palin was second at 21 percent while 20 percent named Gingrich. Romney and Huckabee were in the single digits with 9 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
Huckabee and Romney are viewed favorably by 78 percent of Republican voters, Palin by 75 percent. Gingrich earns favorably reviews from 69 percent while Pawlenty is less well known and gets a positive assessment from 45 percent of Republicans.
Republican voters are very confident their nominee could be the next president of the United States. Eighty-one percent of the GOP faithful say that it’s at least somewhat likely the Republican nominee will defeat Barack Obama in 2012. Fifty percent say it’s very vikely.
Romney leads all prospects among voters who attend church once a month or less. Huckabee leads among more frequent churchgoers. Huckabee holds a huge lead among Evangelical Christians with Palin in second and Romney a distant third. Huckabee and Romney are essentially even among other Protestants while Romney has the edge among Catholics.
Romney leads among Republicans earning more than $75,000 a year while Huckabee leads among those who earn less.

Leno’s Town Hall – Corte Madera, CA
October 10, 2009
Democrats have run our state into the ground, yet Senator Mark Leno blamed Republicans at every turn to his largely Democrat audience who hung on his every word. But the truth is, Democrats have had majorities of both houses for many years. The problems our state faces like expensive social programs, the over-regulation of business causing them to leave the state and high unemployment are not of Republicans’ making.
Leno stated politicians do not cavalierlyraise taxes, but he sure was comfortable talking about taxing oil and pharmceutical companies. Democrats have demonized big corporations for years. What they never talk about is… where will the money and jobs come from if they successfully put big businesses out of business? They have already left the state driving unemployment skyward. We can not constantly be anti-business and expect the state to flourish. With businesses and working individuals (the ones who pay taxes, remember?) leaving California, who will be left to pick up the tab? With an increasing number of Californians on unemployment where will the tax revenue come from?
Leno’s point was we need taxes to pay for schools, roads and parks which got a cheer from the crowd. But what he didn’t mention was how much money is already in the budget for these things, yet we still have a 41 billion dollar deficit with a shrinking tax base. With over regulation and taxation he and his Democrat pals will chase what’s left of the good paying jobs to other states.

Mark Leno Comes to Marin
October 10, 2009
I have no doubt that liberals think they want the best for everyone. They just think their ideas are the only ones that are right, and we should all be forced to follow their rules. Conservatives, on the other hand, want people to be able to do what they want. It’s called freedom. It’s the principle the country was founded upon. This new America that liberals want is old world socialism… which has never worked.
The event was hosted by Progressive Democrats of America and Democracy for America. I assume the Democracy means as long as Democrats are in control. They sure didn’t like it when Republicans were democratically elected and running the country. They started off with bash Bush and Schwarzenegger stories. In fact, in their opinion, all Republicans are evil. Leno said as much in the fact that Republicans are able to use their power as the minority to hold up expensive legislation.
Let me say, they were obviously not used to opposition showing up to their meetings. I’m sure they have gotten comfortable in Marin with the status quo, but that is over. Democrats have run our state into the ground and have successfully blamed Republicans at every turn, even though Democrats have majorities of both houses and have had them for many years. The problems we have are socialism and high taxation not of Republicans’ making.
Leno stated politicians do not cavalierlyraise taxes, but he sure was comfortable talking about taxing oil and pharmceutical companies because Democrats have successfully demonized big corporations for years. What they never talk about is… where will the money come from if they successfully put big business out of business and drive unemployment skyward? As we see you can’t constantly be anti-business and expect the state to flourish. With businesses and individuals (the ones who pay taxes, remember?) leaving California, who will be left to pick up the tab? Who will be left to work for? With Californians on unemployment where will the tax revenue come from?
Bottom line is; there was no common sense in the meeting. The larger number of people were sympathetic to Leno’s positions, so he really wasn’t challenged. I would bet the large majority of the group were active in Democrat politics because many of them knew each other. But the Marin Conservative Forum had at least 15 people in attendance and did get a chance to ask some pointed questions.
Mine was this; with the federal and state governments being broke, how would we pay for health care? This was a topic that Leno brought up first. Liberal lingo is that every individual would make a “contribution” toward it. I spoke up and said he meant tax. Contributions are voluntary, taxes are confiscatory. Leno’s response was call it what I wanted. I said I am calling it what it is! Of course after several people brought up other health care issues, Leno felt cornered and stated this was not a “health care town hall”. Though he brought up the topic first, as it got too comfortable to address the opposition, debate was cut off.
Here’s what I took away from the meeting. Democrats are liars. Leno used parks and schools to point the finger of blame at Republicans who were holding up the budget. My question would have been, how much money is California bringing in through taxes now and where is all that money going if not to the parks and schools? Let’s look at the budget line by line! My guess is we would find much of our money goes to illegal immigrants and their families or other social programs.
In my opinion, we can not afford to let Democrats run the state (or the nation) anymore. We are in a recession and the only people who seem to not understand that are Democrats. They will tax us and force us into unpopular climate change legislation and health care programs we don’t want which will eventually kill our economy. Throw the bums out.

Congratulations to Barack Obama for the Nobel Peace Prize
October 9, 2009
We would like to congratulate Obama for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Hopefully it will not affect his decision to increase troops in Afghanistan, but we suspect this was the reason for the committe to choose him.
Could it also be a swipe at the US because Obama’s policies are aimed at bringing down the US as a super power?
