Government-Run Health Care: A Disaster for Small Businesses

A message from Congressman John Boehner: A report in the Dayton Business Journal found that “[t]he affordability of offering health insurance ranks among the top issues on the minds of Ohio small business owners.” This is no surprise. As a former small businessman, I know how expensive it can be to provide health coverage for employees. The Republican health care solution will help fix this problem; the Democrats’ government takeover of health care would only make it worse.

THE DEMOCRATS’ GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER: A DISASTER FOR SMALL BUSINESSES.

In “a major blow to President Obama and his allies,” the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) – a coalition of small businesses – wrote an open letter to Congress opposing the Democrats’ health care takeover. Why? Because a government takeover would be a disaster for small businesses. NFIB argued it would limit choices and raise costs on small businesses (you can read their letter here). The Wall Street Journal says it would mean “fewer jobs.”

Bottom line: with Ohio’s unemployment rate now at 11.2 percent and the White House announcing an unprecedented $9 trillion deficit over the next ten years, the last thing we need is more jobs-killing legislation. We can lower health care costs and expand coverage without a costly, partisan government takeover.

A REPUBLICAN PLAN FOR HELPING SMALL BUSINESSES PROVIDE AFFORDABLE HEALTH COVERAGE.

The Republican health care solution that I support includes several reforms to lower costs and help small businesses provide affordable coverage by:

 
• Establishing small-business health plans which allow smaller firms to band together through associations and purchase quality health care — even across state lines — at a more affordable cost; and
• Providing small businesses tax credits to defray the administrative costs of providing health coverage for their employees. 

Our plan also gives states incentives to reform their insurance markets so insurance companies are able to compete and increase employers’ and employees’ purchasing power. And it reins in the junk lawsuits that lead to defensive medicine and higher premiums.

Big Labor’s “Secret Plan to Destroy the Right Forever”

Dear Fellow Concerned American:

We can’t say the union bosses didn’t warn us. At a recent conference featuring Far Left bloggers from across the country, union bosses revealed what they called “The Secret Plan to Defeat the Right Forever.” Just what is this “secret plan” to impose a radical agenda on the American people?

The Card Check Forced Unionism Bill – the union power grab Congressional leaders plan to put on the fast track next month. That’s why it’s vital you sign our petition urging the Congressional leadership to OPPOSE the union bosses’ Card Check Forced Unionism Bill — and the rest of Big Labor’s agenda — IMMEDIATELY.

You see, there’s not much time. The Card Check Forced Unionism Bill is at the very top of the Congress’s agenda. And Big Labor wouldn’t have it any other way. You see, passage of the so-called “Card Check” Bill is all that stands between the union bosses and total control over hundreds of thousands of America’s small businesses . . .

. . . not to mention the hundreds of millions of forced-dues dollars that will immediately be seized from American workers’ paychecks. If the union-label Congress succeeds in passing “Card Check,” workers would no longer be able to vote for or against union boss representation in a secret ballot election.

Instead, the union bosses would be able to intimidate workers one on one into signing so-called “union authorization cards.” So what would the result be? BINGO! — hundreds of thousands of additional small businesses and millions of additional workers would be FORCED under Big Labor control!

You see, the union bosses know that without a secret ballot election, their henchmen would be able to browbeat workers into signing the “union authorization cards.” Independent-minded workers who oppose the forced unionization of themselves, their coworkers and the companies they work for would stick out like sore thumbs.

Any workers who refuse to sign the so-called “union authorization cards” would find themselves victims of lies, intimidation, threats, harassment — and worse — from union militants. With well over 90,000 recorded instances of union violence just since 1975, you and I both know union officials will stop at nothing to get a signature . . .

. . . and that means stamping their union label on innocent workers with the heel of a Big Labor militant’s boot. In short, if the Card Check Forced Unionism Bill passes, this outrageous power grab would:

*** Force millions of additional working Americans to pay union dues under the threat of losing their jobs, filling Big Labor coffers with hundreds of millions of forced-dues dollars;

*** Dramatically increase the wasteful work rules, hate-the-boss propaganda, slowdowns and bitter strikes that shut down businesses and destroy jobs, ensuring that even more plants are closed and more jobs are shipped overseas or lost forever;

*** Enable Big Labor to pump even more campaign cash into the coffers of its radical, tax and spend politicians like Barack Obama and Ted Kennedy who in turn will look for even greater ways to increase the union bosses’ forced-dues empire.

That’s why it’s vital you act TODAY and sign the petition to the Congressional leadership! With the union bosses working feverishly with the Obama administration to pass their agenda, you and I have precious little time to mobilize public opinion against the Card Check Forced Unionism Bill.

And then, they’ll go for the brass ring — Big Labor’s ultimate goal — repeal of Section 14(b) of the Taft-Hartley Act, wiping out EVERY state Right to Work law in the country!

The National Right to Work Committee has developed a massive plan to stop the union bosses’ radical agenda dead in its tracks. But there’s not much time to put it into action! The Obama Health Care Tax scam will cost billions and a new revenue source is needed according to Obama Treasury Sec. Geithner who didn’t rule out new taxes as a means to do so.Timothy Geithner said when asked if new taxes were likely ”what the country needs to do is understand we’re going to have to do what it takes, we’re going to do what’s necessary.”

The Obama administration tax increase plan strategy includes an Energy Report it issued that contains no new research intentionally scaring the public with the grimmest, most urgent language on climate change ever to come out of any White House.   False computer simulations about rising sea levels, sweltering temperatures, deeper droughts, and heavier downpours — blaming carbon for global warming’s alleged serious effects and lying to the country to collect the Obama “Energy Tax”.   The House rushed a bill through before going on vacation and the Senate expects to do the same.

But was the report complete?  Did it have all the relevant data?  NO!!!

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla has ordered an investigation into the Environmental Protection Agency’s alleged suppression of a 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin that questioned the science behind global warming.

The report details how regulating gases like carbon dioxide WILL NOT reduce global warming. Carlin’s report states that the information the EPA is using is out of date, and that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, global temperatures have declined.

Inhofe said “He (Carlin) came out with the truth. They don’t want the truth at the EPA,” he’s ordered an investigation. “We’re going to expose it.”

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Is Food For Plants not “Air Pollutant”

CO2 is not an “air pollutant,” but rather food for plants and marine life. And its atmospheric levels are controlled by temperature and other biological/chemical variables — not the other way around (Just as: Lung Cancer does not cause smoking). But most of all, a magical CO2 knob for controlling weather and climate simply does not exist.

The possible effect that forcing down CO2 levels may have on plants by reducing the food supply are catastrophic.

OBAMA ALREADY LOBBYING THE SENATE
President Obama called on senators to disregard what he called the “misinformation” offered by critics of his energy bill, which passed the House of Representatives late Friday night despite GOP predictions that it will further damage the economy.

“We must not be prisoners of the past,” he said in his radio and Internet address. “Don’t believe the misinformation out there that suggests there is somehow a contradiction between investing in clean energy and economic growth. It’s just not true.”

Democrats pushing the bill have admitted that the total tax costs per family will increase. But the whole purpose of the bill is to raise the price of using carbon-based energy to reduce its use, 17% by 2020 and 83% by 2050. That is probably going to require even more than $3,000 per family per year.

Obama’s Carbon Disaster

Obama fanatically believes in a carbon disaster and The Great Energy Lie – that Energy Emissions Cause Global Warming. Obama ignores sound science and the United Nations own data that the earth has been in a 10 year cooling period said of the bill’s passage “There is no longer a debate about whether carbon pollution is placing our planet in jeopardy. It’s happening.”

The bill will also result in millions of lost jobs and a weakened economy due to high cost energy. Remaining manufacturing in America will flee overseas. The coal industry will be phased out.

China Rejects “Energy Tax” bill will not reduce global warming

Obama is on his own as countries around the world such as France, Poland, Australia, the C zech Republic, and New Zealand are turning against the cap-and-trade “Energy Tax” regressive policies for their own countries, and China that Obama is borrowing 50 cents of every dollar he spend from and India have rejected the idea for their emerging economies all along.

Even global warming advocates admit that the bill passed by the House will have no significant effect in reducing global warming, despite all of its costs for the America people.

With these and other developments on the horizon Obama is poised to break the central promise of his campaign, which took him straight to the White House. Did Obama win last year on false pretenses? Perhaps he might remember this cautionary tale: When the first President Bush broke his campaign pledge not to raise taxes in 1990, he was booted out in the next election.

There was a time when we were in a cold war with Russia and the use of the word czar in the United States would have been frowned upon. Here we have a president who is unashamedly naming czar after czar to his administration to oversee various aspects of our country, sometimes without constitutional authority, and nobody to answer to. Shouldn’t congress be outraged? He is usurping their power.

In a June 29, 2009 report from US News and World Reportonline, Bonnie Erbe reported another new czar was appointed to the administration. How much money do these people earn at our expense? Here is her list:

• Lynn Rosenthal – Adviser on Violence Against Women
• Drug czar
• U.S. border czar
• Urban czar
• Regulatory czar
• Stimulus accountability czar
• Iran czar
• Middle East czar
• Czar for both Afghanistan and Pakistan

“There are upward of 20 such top officials, all with lengthy official titles but known in the media as czars, and next week there will be one more, when Obama appoints a czar for cyber-security who will be charged with improving the security of computer networks.” said Erbe in the article.

Possibly the most aggregious appointment is that of Kenneth Feinberg as America’s “compensation czar.” This guy has the power to tell private companies what executives can make. Of course, this is put forth in the guise of protecting tax payers because these companies took bailout money from the government. Once you get into business with them, look out!

Russia was an example of Communism failing. Now we want our president to implement that strategy? No wonder our economy is going down the tubes. Central planning NEVER works despite the “good intentions”. It’s an old idea wrapped up in a new, young president who is getting away with more than George Bush was ever accused of doing. We need to stop this NOW! Our chance is 2010 to clean house in congress.

Q&A on California’s Budget Problems and Oil Exploration

Question from FedUpNetwork : Recently we heard a report on the news that California legislators had voted to open up drilling to generate revenue for our cash strapped state. A coupe of nights later, our conservative PAC had Chuck DeVore speak who is running for Barbara Boxer’s seat in 2010. Apparently he wrote the legislation that passed which was expunged from the record by the State Senate after it won resoundingly in the State Assembly. Of course not a word was said on the news. Do you know anything about this?

Answer from WSPA.org: Your facts are essentially correct.  The state Senate included a measure in its version of the state budget that would have authorized one project off the coast of Santa Barbara called Tranquillon Ridge.  It would have involved drilling into a new state lease from an existing offshore platform that is in federal waters.  The project would have generated an estimated $100 million for the state in royalty and lease payments this year and as much as $2 billion over the life of the project.  The Assembly removed that provision from the budget it passed and sent to the governor and then expunged the record so there would be no official record of the vote.  I understand Assemblyman DeVore  kept a printout of the votes, however.

Question: We had Chuck DeVore speak at our MarinConservativeForum.com event on Monday night and he confirms your facts. Why would anyone object to drilling off a platform that is already there? Especially if the lease brings in revenue for our struggling economy?

Answer: As for why there would be objections, I have heard it explained as the “camel’s nose under the tent.” Meaning any new drilling no matter how unobtrusive, could lead to other forms of offshore resource development. And that goes against the long-held political orthodoxy in this state.

That’s a shame for a state that is having a huge budget crisis.

House Committee Showed Why You Can Never Believe A Congressman Without Verification

So, they came back today to introduce another amendment that said illegal aliens couldn’t get the health care.

HOWEVER . . . .

. . . . the amendment today provided for no verification.  And actually reaffirmed other decisions of the last three years to include illegal aliens in various taxpayer-supported benefits.

Our allies in the committee pointed out the deception but the amendment passed on a voice vote.

Expect this to happen:

When you criticize any of the Members who voted against the Deal Amendment, you can expect that they will point to this amendment today that they really did oppose rewards for illegal immigration.

I say in my video blog today that you should never trust anything any Congressman ever says about immigration until you have verified it with NumbersUSA.  That is why we keep track of every action every Member takes.  Come to our Report Cards and Vote Profiles to check on any claim.

  Nancy Pelosi’s House Democrats, along with a handful of Republicans-in-Name-Only, are holding secret closed-door meetings in a last ditch effort to ram ObamaCare down the throats of the American people before they leave town.

     You read that right… before they leave town for their summer vacation.

     And what about the news reports that say ObamaCare is stalled… that there will be no legislation coming out of Congress in the foreseeable future? You really didn’t believe that the politicians in Washington had given up… did you?

     According to a late-breaking news report released by the Associated Press on Tuesday:

“A bipartisan group of senators is closing in on a health care compromise… as lawmakers on both sides of the Capitol labor to deliver sweeping health legislation to President Barack Obama.”

     And, according to an article published on The Washington Examiner’s website on Tuesday:

“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still claims that she has the votes to approve the new legislation and that a floor vote could come by Friday….”

     In addition, The New York Times claims House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is looking at keeping the House in session to pass whatever health care bill comes down the pike:

“The House Democratic leader… said it was conceivable the House might stay in session a few days longer and vote on Aug. 3 or 4.”

     Anthony G. Martin, in an article published by The Washington Examiner, gives perhaps the best description on what is going on right now:

“It doesn’t take an enormous amount of digging to see what’s going on here. The self-styled ‘rulers’ who now run Washington seem intent on ramming through legislation that no one has read and that even Barack Obama had great difficulty explaining… The ultra-liberal Democratic leadership, along with the ‘blue dog Dems’ and the RINOS (Republicans in Name Only’) would like nothing better than to foist upon an unsuspecting public a multi-trillion-dollar healthcare fiasco, complete with rationing, just so they can fulfill some sort of ideological obligation in their demented, brainwashed minds that ‘government must take care of ALL of the needs of the people.”

     It’s as if we’re fighting the Amnesty battle all over again. The American people, in resounding numbers, are saying “no” to ObamaCare and politicians in Washington are, for some inane reason, trying to sneak it past us anyway.

     And that’s not acceptable.

     Let’s tell these politicians in Washington that when it comes to ObamaCare, the American people don’t want any so-called “compromises” made behind closed doors in the dark of night.

     Let’s make sure they get the message this time around… “no” means “no.”
