Alert: They Want Chuck to Go Away
July 27, 2009
It’s no secret that Beltway insiders and establishment RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) don’t like Chuck.
They want Chuck to bow out, plain and simple.
Word on the street is that the boys back in D.C. want
- A candidate who can fund their own campaign (i.e. a multi-millionaire)
- A candidate who is a celebrity or wannabe celebrity
- A candidate who has no elected experience and is perceived as a moderate
- A candidate with no ideas of their own, utterly reliant on highly-paid professional consultants, opinion polls, and focus groups
California has been there and done that and look at the mess we’re in! Further, never in California’s history has a self-funded non-actor with no political experience ever won top office – dozens have tried and all have failed after spending millions on ads and consulting fees.
Now the geniuses in Washington who brought you the single largest defeat in GOP history want to pick your candidates for you. They want Chuck out of the race and they want you to shut up so they can add freely to their millionaire dilettante club. Imagine20replacing Barbara Boxer in D.C. only to end up with another Arlen Specter “Republican”!
Barbara Boxer has never faced this kind of opponent in this kind of environment: an articulate, seasoned commonsense conservative ready to run circles around her with a fast and hard-hitting campaign championing the growing crowds of Americans who believe our economic woes are largely the fault of a bloated and corrupt government.
We need your help! We need to show the establishment that Chuck CAN beat Barbara Boxer. They don’t know California and they certainly don’t know Chuck. Help us fortify our campaign by making a donation today. We need to reach our July goals by the end of the week.
Make a contribution here.

All the talk today was about this so called GOP summit that took place over the weekend. They are trying to reenergize the party. So where was Sarah Palin? She can energize a room just by being there, but was she invited? No. Had she not been the VP nominee for McCain, he would not have gotten as many votes as he did, I am convinced.
What they keep missing is this: conservatism. If they would start talking about that, the party would get energized. But all we keep hearing about is this attempt to “re-brand” the Republican Party and make it something like the Democrat Party, only better. Tom Delay dealt with that in his book. And his denial of that strategy helped Republicans win the house and senate for the first time in many years. So why is it so hard for these GOP geniuses to grasp that? It’s beyond me. If they go down the NCNA path, we will lose yet another election!
It is clear these people are politicians not statesmen who are pandering to different groups to buy votes. It’s not how conservatism works. What should be done is to look at all people, rich or poor, black or white or anything in between as AMERICANS! The United States guarantees equal opportunity under the Constitution, not equal outcome. But Republicans, in trying to be compassionate, are loathe to tell the truth for fear of offending a constituent. But pandering takes us down the wrong path, one that will lose the next election unless that someone comes along who can articulate a conservative message!

Republican Voters – No Clear Leader
March 9, 2009
From Terry G. – Marin Republicans – A Rasmussen poll released today finds that 68% of Republican VOTERS (key group) say the Repub Party has no clear leader. Who is the best qualified Republican candidate for CA Governor? US and CA Senate? US, Congress/State Assembly? Dog Catcher?
How many Marin Republicans (not RINOS) hold office here? Why? What can we do *locally* to change that? (Hint: Join us on Tues., March 24th for Pizza & Politics at Mill Valley Roundtable Pizza, and Thurs., March 26@Champagne French Bakery, Corte Madera Town Center, 6pm for dinner before we walk to 7pm Marin Repub Central Committee Meeting in the Community Room
REPUBLICANS SEE THEIR PARTY AS LEADERLESS
Who’s in charge here?
Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Republican voters say their party has no clear leader, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Another 17% are undecided.
Just five percent (5%) view either John McCain, the GOP’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential candidate, or new party chairman Michael Steele as the party’s leader.
Two percent (2%) see conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh in that role, and one percent (1%) name McCain’s running mate, Alaska Govenror Sarah Palin. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader John Boehner are each seen as GOP leader by less than one-half of one percent.
Democrats have no question who’s in charge. Two-thirds of the party’s voters (66%) see President Barack Obama as their leader. Nobody else reaches even the five percent (5%) level.

Only 10% of Democrats say the party has no clear leader. Four percent (4%) say House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is in charge, while two percent (2%) list longtime Massachusetts Senator Edward M. “Ted” Kennedy and one percent name political comedian Jon Stewart. Sixteen percent (16%) of Democratic voters are not sure.

Now is the time to start taking over the central committees of all our local governments. This is getting rediculous as “moderate” members of the party are unable to get things done. Here in Marin County we are in the process of just such a revolution.
Although we are only talking about one issue, the way it is being handled as I have reported, is a symptom of the bigger problem. I never understood why people would want to run something as important as a political or social organization and then do nothing with it. Is it just to look good on their resume?
Join us in this long overdue crusade. We need to start letting people know who we are and what we stand for and stop letting the media and extremists define who we are. Afterall, conservative principles are really the more compassionate. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day (welfare, food stamps). Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime (self-employment, hard work, sacrifice, accomplishment, self-worth). And if I might add a line, by learning to fish, the man is able to go out and teach others how to provide for themselves which makes our country stronger.

GOP Chairman Piles On
February 8, 2009
As if we didn’t know how Republicans feel about the “stimulus” package, RNC Chairman, Michael Steele, adds his two cents worth on the stimulus and the economy. Why are Republicans speaking up NOW??? Where were they before the election? – FedUpEditor
I hope you’ll take a moment to review RNC Chairman Michael Steele’s weekly Republican address.

Transcript:
“This is Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee. Democrats have controlled both branches of government for less than a month. And you have to wonder if all that power has gone to their heads.
“For the last two weeks, they’ve been trying to force a massive spending bill through Congress under the guise of economic relief.
“All of us — Republicans and Democrats — agree the government must act to kick-start the American economy. American families are doing their best to balance their own budgets and pay their mortgages.
“The fastest way to help those families is by letting them keep more of the money they earn. Individual empowerment: that’s how you stimulate the economy.
“But the Democrats have a different philosophy. Instead of leaving money in the family checkbook, they want to send it to Washington, run it through a slow and inefficient government, and hope that does some good.
“When families keep the money, they spend it, save it, or invest it. And the private sector economy benefits when families and businesses buy consumer goods or invest it for the future. But when Washington spends the money, some of it may flow into the economy, but all too often, much gets wasted.
“Democrats in Congress want a one-trillion dollar spending bill. You’ve heard about the pork-barrel programs they want to fund… 45 million dollars for ATV trails and removal of fish passage barriers is one that caught my eye. Exactly what is a fish passage barrier and why does it cost 45 million dollars to stimulate the economy with it?
“That’s why Republicans in the House voted against uncontrolled spending. This is not a bragging point, but rather a statement that at least Republicans would stand with the American taxpayer.
“But voting ‘no’ is not enough… and Republicans have offered innovative ideas to help struggling families and small businesses. We’ve offered plans to spark job creation and investment through lower taxes, to stop the taxation of unemployment benefits, and to help Americans keep their jobs and their homes.
“The comprehensive Republican plan would lower taxes for all working American families. If you’re married, the first 16,750 dollars you make this year will be taxed at ten percent. Why don’t we cut that rate in half to give instant buying power to every working American family?
“Good ideas… lots of them… all left out of this plan by the Democrats in Congress.
“Republicans stand ready to work with reasonable Democrats to do what is right for America.
“But it will take more than bipartisan words from the President. It will require fair-minded action from Democrats in Congress.
“Thanks for listening.”

Washington’s Unprecedented
Power Grab
While Senate Banking Chairman Chris Dodd (D-CT) is admitting that conservatives have the power to block a bailout of the auto industry now, Detroit will get its money eventually. If a more liberal Congress does not give the big three and their labor unions all the taxpayer money they want, President-elect Obama will use the Wall Street bailout funds to do it anyway. Of course, once you’re bailing out banks and automakers, there will be no justification for excluding other big businesses from feeding at the taxpayer trough. Airlines, hotels, construction, computers — all these industries are hurting as consumption retracts, and all of them have just as good a case that they need to be bailed out to protect jobs as the auto industry. Then there are the spendthrift states like California and New York that all want federal money, not to mention all the major U.S. cities who are equally deserving. The bailout parade has no end.
All of these bailouts come at a heavy cost, and not just to the American taxpayer. Just like the mafia that wants to “wet its beak,” government money comes with government interference. Hence Obama’s promise that any money for automakers comes with an auto czar “who would have the authority to push for reforms.” With liberals in power in Washington, bureaucrats will be able to decide what kind of car you drive , how much you should pay for your house, and what medical procedures you can and can not have. What’s the difference between us and China again?
Writing Just To Be Writing
October 30, 2008
Hello again,
As the nation moves toward the election, we see the gasoline and oil prices dropping. It’s not in the news other than that gasoline prices per gallon is going down. Normally I’d be happy about this. I am, but very suspicious about all the California ballot initiatives that are geared toward alternative energy. That’s fine if it really is the right solution, but my car does not run on wind or solar, so it’s hard to see the rationale.
Proposition 1A is the proposition that we build a high speed rail system… What will it solve? End gridlock, save energy by taking cars off the road. My problem with this solution is that it is a government solution rather than a private solution. The push is it will create many construction jobs and many more permanent jobs. Do you know how to read this? Government Union jobs. History shows us this. In the Bay Area, we have BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit – another rail system), Golden Gate Bridge District, Muni (Bus system), and on and on. Problem is, who will use it? We’ll see if it passes.
Proposition 7 is promoted as an environmental bill. It will probably pass. It promotes the use of alternative fuels to petroleum products. I have these questions. Will it cost more to produce these alternatives than it does to refine petroleum? Do we get better mileage from ethanol (for example) than gasoline or do we have to burn more to get the same miles? Do these fuels burn that much cleaner that it will make a difference? Afterall, they are still using the same internal combustion engine and catalytic converters, right?
California Proposition 7, would, if approved, require California utilities to procure half of their power from renewable resources by 2025. In order to make that goal, levels of production of solar, wind and other renewable energy resources will more than quadruple from their current output of 10.9%. It will also require California utilities to increase their purchase of electricity generated from renewable resources by 2% annually to meet Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) requirements of 40% in 2020 and 50% in 2025. California’s current law governing the amount of fuel that utility companies must purchase from renewable resources requires an RPS of 20% by 2010.
Another question is this. These are mandates from government that may or may not have achievable results. What if it can’t be done? Then what happens?
All electric utilities (including municipally-owned utilities) will be required to provide half of their electricity from solar and clean energy facilities by 2025. Current law requires the state’s investor-owned utilities (Edison and PG&E, for example) to reach 20 percent renewable energy by 2010.
What is it with the term renewable energy? Either energy is renewable or it is not. If gasoline is not renewable, then neither is solar or wind. Once it’s used it’s converted and changes characteristics. All fuels do that. But “renewable” implies it can be reused and is better!
There are more, but you get the idea. California is lost. That’s why we are planning to leave the state in a couple of years. The state is losing jobs every day because of the restrictions being placed on them. Taxes are going up, and the politicians just keep spending without checks and balances. If you want to see modified socialism, come to California. There are probably other places, but I don’t want to speak beyond my experience.
